Tolerating different cultures there way

They are just harmless profiteers .It would be like asking why does North America tolerate east Indians. The believe it is the right thing to do no matter how annoying they are

Why does the Federation continue to put up with and tolerate the Ferengi

They are nothing but a bunch of cut throats and thieves that cant be trusted....I would have finished them off looong ago.

Darth Vader LEADING the Cyclons...now THAT would be a formidable opponent!

On the other hand, the Battlestar Galatica was far superior to any ship the "Star Wars" rebels had. And I would take a Colonial Viper over an X-Wing Fighter any day of the week!
Nobody could beat captain Janeway on Voyager. She had the ultimate defense "Shield Remodulation". Is that the only technobable the actors could remember? Is it just me or were the writers just going through the motions and not even trying anymore once they got to Voyager and Enterprise.

Between a rock and a hard place
I have noticed so many Star Trek reviewers calling on the Shylock reference when analyzing the Ferengi.

I don't know 'bout that. I'd take the Falcon over any bucket of bolts the SciFi Channel Galactica threw at me any day. The Falcon is the only ship where one could actually get laid in it.....AND ENJOY IT!!

***BANG*** Ow, Chewey!

The original series of Galactica's Commander Caine (Lloyd Bridges) could do whirlwinds around Katherine Janeway (Kate Mulgrew). In fact she'd fall for him so fast, she'd put Tom Paris in charge.

The Ferengie have attacked federation vessels, stolen from the Federation....attempted to hijack the Enterprise to be sold to the highest bidder and threatened officers and personal on many occasions.

The Ferengie could be a key participant in the fall of the Federation...not because of their military might but because of their mindless ways.

The ironic thing is the Federation is the only thing keeping them alive (indirectly)...

Ummm, not very bright are you? The "Federation" is in San Fransisco, the crew speaks English and the ships are based on US warships because the show is written, produced, paid for, and sold to an American Audience...
As for the military issue, you are very dense, and clearly have no concept of the English language. The question is why does the Federation not choose to destroy the Ferengi. The answer is that the Federation does not belive that a military solution is a good solution. It has nothing to do with the Ferengi military abilities.
Of course the show is written and marketed for US audience, that is why the implication that the alien race of the Ferengi would represent the US doesn't make much sense, when the main characters would be representative of the audience. Also, of course Start Trek is based on the "ideal" version of the future, which is why it is so popular. It was one of the rare optimistic views of technology helping mankind acheive greatness and peace.

I was responding to the other post specifically. As to the original question, the Ferengi have an established "territory" in space and the Federation would not destroy another race like that, no matter how annoying they were. Same situation with the Klingons when the Feds reached out to them for peace. Geez, Picard wouldnt even hurt those Wesley nanobots when they tried to take over the Enterprise.

now...as for the question about why are there still bald men in the 24th century, i'd say with holodeck technology available and the ability to create your own beautiful women, who cares what you look like!!! :D

Because the Ferengi supply the Federation with hookers.

The Prime Directive doesn't allow for human trafficing - so the Federation can't supply its own hookers. Too bad since I'd love to see Deanna Troi riding my cock.

I can't stand the show, personally.
Makes no sense to me..
They get photon blasted and are all rolling around on the floor of the ship.
Tell me where between the 19th and 23rd century did they decide that seatbelts weren't good anymore?
It was decided after the Inertial Dampeners got invented.
