She was investigating a crime. Specifically thugs who slashed the tire of a little old lady neighbour. He was a suspect who moved towards her, acted agressively towards her and grabbed her wrist. That could have been two seconds away from him grabbing her gun, pulling a knife etc. She was 100% within her authority to use the taser.

Not all Police Departments have two man patrol cars during the day either. Not every call is about low lifes like you seem to express a special kinship towards.

And Ive seen tons of police body cam vids where several cops can't get the cuffs on a guy... some that they had already shot or tazed.

Personally, think she's an example of a good copper. Being a good cop isn't just about being a big meathead who can wrestle a crazy person to the ground. It's about trying to descalate so you don't have to and if you do, doing it quickly and with complete confidence. I wish there were more cops like her, male and female. I'd have no problem with being her partner or having her have my back.

A small woman can be trained in one of innumerable fighting skills to take on any street punk or assholes like these mutts.

Never mind pressure points, advanced martial arts etc.. simple judo uses the size of your opponent against him. Literally, the bigger they are the harder they fall.

Now, of course, if a trained woman is up against a trained fighter all bets are off. Or a crazy one. But so it would go with a man. One of those tatted up tough guy cops or a fat out of shape one.

The other thing that makes these situations difficult is that the police officer has an implied duty not to use "excessive" force relevant to the circumstances. So she can't go all Bruce Lee right away. The non-compliant offender has not such limitiations imposed. And by the time it has escalated, it may be too late to regain the upper hand.

I think we do need plenty of women on the police force. Most police work does not involve physical violence. The best cops have skills to de-escalate. Problem is that SOME women, and men, cops go all tough, bad ass but can't back it up. It's the quiet spoken ones that are often the most capable physically as they have that confidence knowing they can handle things if they get rough.

The average man is stronger than most females.
