how many of you can't view my site on your PDA?

im beginning to wonder if i need a html based site too...
and we are just in the process of making celests site.

anyone know a great WYSIWYG editor to make something in HTML?

googlepages was perfect. they kicked me off cause of adult content
wix..which i am using now, is fantastic and easy to use. but only generated Flash websites

Flash sites tend to a lot more trouble than their worth,they are much harder to generate traffic with from search engines,they are harder to update,and most people if given the choice will just pick the HTML option
If your going to invest,why not get a picture and schedule page that is updateable by you whenever you want,that would generate real interest in revisiting your site

Miss Blue, some of us in the pre-internet generation have no clue what in blazes you are talking about . Please keep it simple. Something that works quickly with a click of the mouse.

Some of these escort websites take forever to load. Plus, some of them are full of clutter like what is the escort's favourite novelist, actor, etc. and that she had a pony as a little girl, etc.

Most people will have an extreme reaction to flash. They either hate it or love it. You won't be able to please everyone, so you might just want to go with something that pleases you.

As for flash on PDA: no PDA released in North America at this time supports flash. The technology isn't quite there yet.

As for WYSIWYG editors, Aside from the Dreamweaver/Fireworks suite I used to use, I can't think of any. I tend to code all by hand. I'm old school that way.

I dislike Flash. I even have a Flash blocker plug-in for Firefox.

I prefer a well designed HTML page over a Flash heavy one.

id be fine with having a html based site...its just i have yet to find an editor that is easy enough for me to use, make updates, and so on.

id rather not have to call up my web designer just to have some text changed, or post a few new pics. plus its nice to have complete control over how things look, and wix (flash based) allows me this...

wix takes forever to load on my PowerBook G4Mac. I usually just give up. And forget using it on a PDA.

There are a lot of templates around and free hosting is avilable from some of the porn sites. All they require is a tiny link to the porn site.

My photo site is hosted like that.

flash sites aren't recommended for business sites.

Flash is a very bad way to build websites. It’s not only about SEO. It’s about usability. For the same reasons that mature developers don’t use “fly-out” or “drop-down” menus, you shouldn’t use Flash because it requires you to do one of two things. You can either alienate the growing minority of users using alternative user agents or you can “sniff” to find out what the user is using and deliver one site if the user is using Firefox on a Mac and another site if the user is browsing using Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile. Either option is a bad decision.

Properly designed websites keep usability in mind for 100% of possible users. They’re made with semantically valid XHTML and CSS. They don’t start animation or sound without the user clicking somewhere to request it. They don’t require the user to download something special like Flash or Java. They load faster because of the lighter page weight caused by separating the markup (XHTML) from the layout (CSS). They have a good navigational structure that doesn’t rely on drop-down or fly-out menus. They can be browsed effectively with a text-based browser or screen reader. They are very well-indexed on search engines because they’re so accessible.

Flash does have one redeeming quality. It is the current, defacto standard for video distribution. Until Silverlight gets out of diapers, it appears we’re stuck with Adobe’s pile of steam for now.

Seriously, you haven't even tried. There must be hundreds of simple (and free or shareware) programs for WYSWIG HTML...and if you're willing to invest a few hours, it doesn't really take that long to learn how to code it properly - by hand...

you're right. there are hundreds, and all of them have fine print. i have spent days looking at them, trying a few out, only to be disappointed.

that's why i was asking for a recommendation.

for example, ive already paid for a name and hosting, and some only allow you to sign up for hosting with them. (this is where some 'free' building sites make money)

secondly, because of adult content, you can rule out many site building hosts, cause they will shut you down (which i have already been through)

i guess, more specifically, im looking for a builder that is easy to use, is relatively liberal (i.e does not specifically say no escort sites allowed), and allows me to use my own domain name, and hosting.

it's actually a tall order. thats why the posting
