True, but Brexit appears to have pushed it over the edge.
It's an international travel Booker.

The internet killed it. Expedia, Airbnb, Hotwire, and direct booking did it in. Who needs a travel agent now except for some package deals?

Read this quote:

In May, the company reported a debt burden of £1.25 billion ($2.07 billion) and cautioned that political uncertainty related to Britain's scheduled departure from the European Union at the end of October had hurt demand for summer holiday travel. Heatwaves over the past couple of summers in Europe have also led many people to stay at home, while higher fuel and hotel costs have weighed on the travel business.
Since this Brexit turmoil, do you know what the value of the British Pound sterling has dropped down to and how it is affecting the travel plans for the British citizens??

The Pound Sterling now stands at $1.24 American, it was at $1.73 when David Cameron won his majority.

Cameron decided to call this whole referendum when he used it as a trigger for him to get re-elected. So he had to live up to his promise and have the referendum. It was a shock to all the more mature Conservative politicians who claimed that this whole notion to have a referendum as part of his election campaign was done with absolutely no consultation with his colleagues in the Conservative party!!

Most British citizens will only visit Canada as it is not as expensive for them to do so in comparison to the USA.

Insanely high debt levels killed Thomas Cook.

And as others have said, the internet (and I agree) has killed the whole travel agency thing

I didn't even know that they were still around.

150,00 UK travellers now have no way home as Thomas Cook shuts down.

That's idiotic.

They most certainly have a way home. It's as easy as pulling out your credit card and booking a flight home. (They just don't want to pay again. Sorry, but you picked Thomas Cook, it was your choice, it's your responsibility to get home on your own. You shouldn't be expecting the government to bail you out. Take some fucking responsibility for yourself.)

I agree that Brexit is killing the travel agencies in the UK, as the internet has not done so on such a scale as the UK!!

The travel insurance is a British Government Insurance policy. That is why those who bought it and that includes almost all the tourists, will be able to be funded through this insurance policy. Their rates that the British pay is not as high as we do with the private insurance companies!!

Boris is done, his prorogue has been ruled illegal by the supreme court and parliament ordered to resume sitting.
