So looking for a restaurant downtown furthest being a short subway ride from Yonge and Bloor.

Looking for something very romantic, but not too expensive - perhaps $200 for a meal a drink and a bottle of wine.

But with amazing food - open to different cuisines.

Sultan's Tent for Morrocan food on front street if you want an intimate date feel. You can always just watch the belly dancing if you have nothing to talk about. And she will be offered the chance to dance with the belly dancers so you get an idea how she moves.

Easy and the Fifth is also a little romantic.

$200 sounds like a lot of money for a first date. I learned over the years to not spend a lot of money on a first date ... A few drinks tops.

if $200 is what you consider reasonable, what is your 'expensive' dinner worth? xD

For the gold diggers it is better to pick them up in a flashy car, wearing expensive clothes and a nice watch, then take them to coffee.

They are looking for status symbols. While plumping for an expensive meal works, I would rather not have to sit through an entire dinner with someone until I know I at least enjoy their company.

Go to the expensive meal with someone you like as something you do for yourself. A good restaurant experience should never be wasted on poor company.

Near Bloor and Yonge:

Opus is just west of Bloor and is delicious and dark and romantic.

Sotto Sotto is on Avenue Rd not that far

A few in Yorkville but I was not impressed.

Best of luck

For many women (or those who should matter!), its not about the price, but the thought.

FYI - Opus is amazing, but super expensive. With vino, will be well over 200.

I like L'Unita at Ave/Dav. Blu on Yorkville is also great (they have live music Wed-Sat), and Vaticano on Bellair is always great.

Good luck honey.

xox,
Amber
Is it that much? I have no idea. It is howwever delicious and dark and romantic :)

Agree with Vatticano. Italian. Eclectic decor. Wide variety of menu options. 2 min walk north of the bat st bellair entrance. Lots of places for a drink after too!

I am not a fan of Vaticano. It felt very dated to me.

Yes, Opus usually that much. It is hands-down, one of the best restos in the city though, and prob best wine list. It also smells like lilies :)

Forgot to mention Nota Bene. So yum and not crazy $$$.

Opus has a huge underground wine cellar, it was fun to get to see it and pick some wines :). I never saw a bill so have no idea.

I took a lady who was a sports medicine doctor on a first date to Sotto Sotto. The restaurant owner's mom eventually sat with us cuz she was born near where my dad was, and chatted us. My date was good company but I never took her out again. She and I weren't met to be (she told me how she once skiied with Robert Redford at his resort - how's that for competition or having high expectations). The meal was more than $200 though Mrs. Caloki.

There's Coppi's on Yorkville.

There are a few places around.

Yeah I heard about Nota Bene. Gotta try it.

The OP can try Biago's but it's at King and Jarvis in the Old City Town Hall. Elegant setting. YOu can probably have a light dinner for $200 with modest bottle of wine.
