One odd SOTU point from Biden: big landlords who break antitrust laws by price-fixing

Where does that come from? Yeah, rents are high and went up a lot during the inflation surge. But seriously, big bad landlords fixing rents. Rentals are probably one of the most decentralized markets.

It's clearly a pandering appeal to younger voters who are more likely to be paying rent.

We can argue if Biden is a progressive or a moderate. However, the Democratic House membership is very progressive. They know the whole Administrative arm of progressive initiatives comes crashing down if Trump is elected.

Understandable as it is election year. As I said a performance for the masses. That said, yes, Trump is a very real existential threat - but not just to progressive initiatives, but particularly for immigrants - both legal and illegal and for American foreign policy that has been nurtured for several decades. There will be a huge price to pay for America as a state, and more importantly for immigrants living in the US.

We can only hope, John, we can only hope, since neither of us can vote.

Even though I am somewhat of an optimist, I'm not sure there are enough undecided to put Biden over the top. I really don't believe (hopefully) that the maga horde is enough to win. What completely amazes me is the extent that the political leaders in the US (and even some in Canada) will go to remain in power. Have none of them ever heard of the word altruistic?

There have been hedge funds buying up tons of property in the USA then adjusting as appropriate. Newspapers too.
