I have a quadcore computer and do not see the need for Firefox. Is there any advantage to using Firefox that I do not know about? Is Firefox only advantageous for older computers? If Firefox continues unchanges will it be doomed when eventualy most people switch over to newer computers with better operating systems?

IE is the browser you should be worrying about and dumping.
Firefox updates like all browsers and probably safer to use than IE on all PCs old and new.

FWIW, I think Opera browser is better than either IE or FF.
Haven't used IE in ages.....

Opera is faster than FF.

I use FF and Opera much more than I use IE.... A couple of the games I play have Addons that only work with FF..... guess if they're spending the time making it work, they feel there's enough of a demand.

Firefox is great because of all the add-ons for it. However unlike others in this thread I find its performance dreadful. It uses a ton of memory and can get sluggish - especially on startup

It shouldn't be sluggish unless you are starting lots of apps on startup.
Loading lots of apps will slow you right down.

Just start with the mimimun needed and it will fly.

Firefox is slow to start up but I like all the add-ons. Saw this in anther thread about hiding hobby from better half, I use firefox and clear history and data. She only uses IE and is not very computer savvy.
