Anyone care to share the Coles Notes version of this trilogy? My SO has been ignoring me while she's reading it (for the SECOND TIME). It's outselling Hunger Games on Amazon! LOL.

I'd call it soft-medium core porn from an emotional perspective.

What do y'all think about that description?

Nothing new under the sun. It seems like a rehash of the old 8-1/2 Weeks movie from the '80's.

Women have been reading porn in the guise of "explicit romance" novels for decades now. This is nothing new.

i am more than excited for this to become a movie. Especially if alexander skarsgard gets the role of Christian Gray. He has the perfect attitude to play the character on top of being sexy as hell :) although, i never pieced it together until i read the wikipedia article, but im almost certain that i read the original Twilight themed fan fic this series was based off of.

True. I have the Sleeping Beauty novels that Anne Rice wrote years ago (under the name A.N. Roquelare). They're pretty intense. :biggrin1:

Hmm... Nowhere in the first book does the word "pussy" appear. Very disappointed.
“He leans down and kisses me, his fingers still moving rhythmically inside me, his thumb circling and pressing. His other hand scoops my hair off my head and holds my head in place. His tongue mirrors the actions of his fingers, claiming me. My legs begin to stiffen as I push against his hand. He gentles his hand, so I’m brought back from the brink ... I come instantly again and again, falling apart beneath him … then I’m building again … I climax anew, calling out his name.” (page 195)

Not bad.

Anyone want to take a stab at trying to do a rewrite of that paragraph and show how it actually happens in real life?? I'm sure we have some good creative (and realistic) writers in the bunch!

I'm on book 3.

Its far from a romance novel. Middle aged women are all over it because its bold, it exposes another side of intimacy. In fact, much about the delicious character Christian is no different than any of u pooners here. I found the "why" to be predictable. Any sex trade worker worth her weight in gold knows that fetishes all generate from childhood experience. Its very obvious to me why he is how he is. He channels his agression, he's very controlled. Its his mastery of the female body that is jaw dropping. Takes a genius to master not just his business landscape but also his partners sexual geography. He reads people like a Carnegie pro, he commands when & how pleasure is delivered. Meanwhile, millions of folks live alternative lifestyles, average housewives love their denial that anything but "normal" exists. To me, "normal" is a rare breed, and a boring one at that.

What boggles me is how your SO is ignoring you...I was so flushed & bothered I'm surprised airplanes didn't dump water on me like a forest fire. I agree, the audio could be fun. I'd pass on the movie, they always butcher the book. Steven Speilburg has nothing on my imagination!!

Sorry Oagre I assume you meant 9 1/2 weeks with Kim Bassinger and Mickey Rourke and not Felinini's 8 1/2
