I am going to keep the "old" news out and move on here, there is another thread dedicated to that topic ...

Chile 1 - Austria 0

Chile wins the Bronze !!!

Argentina 2 - Czech 1

Argentina win the Gold for the 6th time !!!

Some extra hardware as well in the form of balls and boots !!!

I thought that both games were very good. The stands started to fill in more during the second half of the 3rd place game and was a sell out for the final. It was very enjoyable and the weather added to the whole experience.

VBB

PS. The Score will be airing some soccer games from Asia this week featuring some EPL teams on Tuesday and Friday, check your listings.

It is great for the game that the team that played the most attractive soccer for the most part has won the title. The major flaw with the Argentinian success at this level is that is not translating into success at the senior level.
Their men's team has not won a major trophy since 1993. Their style of play works well at the under 20 but it will not win them the world cup, their coaches, trainers etc don't seem to get this yet.
Brazil realised this after the 1986 WC and have now adopted a European style with flashes of South American improvisation and brilliance. Their players are now taller and stronger to match the demands of the modern game. This change of style has won them 2 of the last 4 world cups so it definitely works.
Argentina seems content to continue to play like how Brazil played in the early 1980's I hope that their demolition in the Copa final by a second-string Brazilian team encourages them to change course at the senior level.
