This is really becoming an international joke. Guys always taunt eachother with words, hurl insults, etc. on the field of play. It has been happening since the first game ever took place, in any sport, at any level. Do you guys not remember when you played hockey or basketball the verbal abuse you took by the opponent to get into your head and throw your game off?

Why in the world are they focusing on this one incident and trying to make an example? Sure the head butt was seen by billions around the world, so what, if they were really serious about eliminating verbal insults FIFA should have taken action decades ago, and no, times haven't changed, an insult is an insult about your mother and sister no matter what decade it took place.

FIFA should concentrate on their biggest problem in the game and IMO that's all those stupid, annoying fake dives that slows the game down and makes it quite boring. This stupid incidence has taken the spotlight off the diving bullshit which has to be addressed sooner than later as it was pathetic in this tournament.

They should have settled this game by switching to Australian Rules Football instead of penalty kicks. That would put an end to the fake injury acts. Those guys just keep kicking you till you get up !!

I noticed that some players were given yellow cards for diving in the penalty area. Has this always been the case, or is it a new rule?

Not sure if its new or not, but they need to do something more to discourage things such as this that ruin the game...

you see the odd yellow card for diving aka "simulation" but not enough

its like the refs dont have the balls to do it

yet FIFA wants to rid it...but it will never be gone

They could do the same thing they do in the NFL, if the training staff has to come on the field to attend to a player then the player has to come out of the game. They could pick something like they have to stay out for 15 minutes.
