Not sure why everyone puts Pierre in the same category as Trump. Just because they are both Conservatives means nothing. Different countries, different government systems and economies.
I'll take my chances with Pierre.
Haven't you noticed how the Liberals are now stealing Pierre's ideas?
Today Carney said the changes to Capital Gains tax won't be implemented, on top of cancelling the consumer Carbon tax, and lastly not GST on new homes under $1 million. I might be missing more.

Loyal, patriotic Canadians are all voting for Carney!!

"Elbows up!"
Public Opinion polling for the 2025 Canadian Federal Election

@mandrill: Please explain to us how a 2% lead in a poll of 1,500 people conducted before an election had been called is congruent with a Majority victory by 37 seats above the combined total of all other Parties. Does Charestiste have any reputation for credibility or impartiality?

If you believe 'elbows up' is a good thing, I would imagine that you have never been a passenger on the College streetcar when it passes through Little Italy during rush hour on a hot summer day.

I don't do the polling or the interpretation and this poll / prediction is more pro Lib than some others - although all now predict a Lib victory.

But basically the Tories will run up massive vote totals in AB, SK and rural ON and BC and the Libs will win narrow victories in all the urban areas. It's a tale of most Tory votes being essentially wasted.

And I actually live in Little Italy and am very familiar with the College streetcar, although simply walking to where I'm going often makes more sense.

I'll re-quote your reply in post #29 from this thread after the election, with additional commentary.

I live in Toronto Centre riding for both Provincial and Federal elections. Red has always won here Federally since 1993. Bill Morneau was my Federal MP before he moved on to greener pastures. Prior to Bill, the seat was held by Bill Graham, Bob Rae and Chrystia Freeland.

Something important to keep in mind. So many people are saturated daily in Trump nonsense, that`s foremost on their mind. How can we deal with him, orange man scary. He will eventually go onto something or somewhere else. Who gets elected here sticks around far longer, how`s another 4 years of Trudeau, or more, level disaster sound? Carney is a proven walking fuck up, go ahead Canada, keep kicking yourself in the face.

Right wingers are confused.
First they call for a fast election.
Then the polls come out saying PeePee will lose.
Now they don't want an election at all.
They want to be in power without an election

By all means.

While I support the Libs - mainly because Pee is so vacuous and nasty - I am just quoting professional pollsters and pundits. Upsets occur.

I also believe that Carney will out campaign Pee because Pee has a limited repertoire and pitches to a limited audience of angry white guys with a bias towards AB and SK. It worked initially because JT had over stayed his welcome. It won't work against a new candidate who is smarter and better qualified.

I think Carney's inability to communicate effectively in French will hurt him in Quebec, big time.

I'm not convinced that the more informed urban voters are prepared to give the Liberals another term. It is a Canadian tradition to vote against an unpopular party as opposed to voting for one they support. When I say 'urban', I don't mean African-Canadian.

They're hoping a new face will make Canadians forget a decade of Trudope and Liberal destruction of the nation at every level.
This is what conservatives and the Fuck Trudeau crowd get for turning Trudeau into their Bogey Man for the past 10 years- now that he’s gone conservatives have nothing left to offer.

I think many Liberal voters had become fed up with JT; now that he’s gone the Liberal party continues to best represent their values and beliefs.

It matters shit. Right of centre voters in Quebec vote Bloc Q, not Tory. CPC will be lucky if they pick up 5 seats in La Belle Province.

An old friend of mine was once in a Greek restaurant in the St Catharines area. One of the customers complained after she saw a rat scurry across the kitchen floor. My friend saw the restaurant owner stamp his foot on the floor, then he told the customer that the rat was dead.

That story reminds me of this election campaign.

A hair makeover might win PP a larger share of the youth vote. I think he needs to rethink the 'greasy kid's stuff' look.

Carney doesn't sound sincere and has basically takes all his ideas from Poilievre, but still has shades of the Liberal agenda hidden in the back. Like it's not as cohesive or as sound as Poilievre.

For some reason, I thought you lived in the Ottawa area.

My College car allusion referred to the older Italian gentlemen who wear the same sports coat every day, year round, and are apparently immune to their own scent.

This chart has zero to do with equalization payments. QC is a net receiver of equalization and has been for many years. What this chart shows is the total net federal tax paid by each province. Now do per capita to properly compare.
