It is not like they aren’t painting a picture for us! And we all know there will be a requirement for boosters every year.
The science of medicine, or science (following the scientific process) itself, does not follow logic.
IMHO, "All" those who already "know" the conclusion, are, by definition, not educated in the scientific method. Their "logical" thinking is based on feelings, and their "conclusions" are based on hopefulness that their feelings are right.
We are all human and all into this trap. Myself included.
Recently I had to conduct an experiment for a client to prove to his VP that my advice to make a change was data-driven, and not just based on my (substantial) expertise in that field and specific issue.
Well, lo and behold, the data did not support my advice. I have to even admit that during the data gathering, I could see my recommended choice was not shaping up to be an advantage. I admit that I realized my confirmation bias was coming into play as I was tempted to fudge the data (the data points were actually really close) .
In the end, the analysis of the data showed that my recommendation was no better than the original process and product.
