Which red wines are your favourites?

French, Italian, Australian and Chilean reds are my faves.

I recently tried a MASI Amarone which was delicious and a French Reserve Perrin which was excellent. :p

OMG! Thanks! How could I have forgotten our own wines, although I find the quality of Niagara's white wines and icewines to be among the best in the world.

However, for reds, "Mission Hill" in BC is superior IMO. :)

It has to do with the climate.

I think guys that you never drink a good wine to say that some canadian wines are best in the world.
Sorry about that but you should better talk about women.

No oenologist would sweepingly dismiss Canadian wines. Niagara is much like Alsace in climate and terroir and produces some world class Rieslings and Gewurztraminers. Recent vintage Chardonnays show excellent potential and there's been some success with the Cabs, Sauvignon and Franc. While not my thing, Icewine draws raves worldwide. There are also some fine examples of most of the major varietals. If it says VQA on the neck it is a well made wine containing exclusively Canadian grapes. The Okanagan Valley produces brilliant wines as well. I'm no oenologist though, just a wino.;)

I tried a Hungarian red wine recently that was very nice. For the life of me I can't spell the name....rough translation is "Bull's Blood". Probably one of the better ones in the price range...10 dollars bottle---750ml. This is also a 0 on the sugar code.

I have many many very delicious red wines given to me and they are wonderful, Australian, Chilean and Canadian, mostly Shiraz. I love that 14-14.5% alcohol buzz. What I find however is that when I provide my own home made wines that you, as the client, really react well. I just finished another batch and it is sitting in my lair waiting, but not long, it goes way too fast LOL:D

An excellent value, Egri Bikaver. That's kinda the point. First, wine is subjective, if you enjoy it, it's good. Second, there are excellent wines from all over the world, and no country is universally excellent, or poor. There are truly heinous wines from Italy and France, just as there are excellent wines from places like Canada & Hungary

Thank you big...thats the one. I have overpaid in the past for truly terrible wine but I have also found what tastes good to me does not to someone else. I have also tried some of the VQA wines and found them to be very nice.

Yes, I've had that Hungarian wine also. Not bad at all. Hungary does produce some good wines.

Also a lovely Chateauneuf du Pape is fabulous with a good roast beef or steak, or with some fine French cheese.

I agree with experts I've met on the street.
They say you only need to calculate the price/alcohol content ratio to determine which wine to guzzle.
