Thumbs up for your two wheeled life style. Beer and bikes can go hand in hand. Just ask the Dutch. I don't see many fat dutch people. My surprise there was a beer called Orangeblum, the major competition for Heineken, but in in country where they have beerhouses that generally sell one makers beers, it stifles those of us who like to expend our horizons.

I love their idea of bike ownership. One bike(read clunker), for going back and forth to work, no need to lock it. If it gets stolen take the next one on the pile. Then there's the weekend dream machine for those long relatively flat circuits through the countryside.
Have I also mentioned I am 100% from Dutch Descent? Both Mom and Dad from the Netherlands! As were their parents, and parents before them...

As for Orangeblum, I think you mean Oranjeboom. It derives its name from the fact that the Dutch Royal family's colour is orange.

CG;

It must have been my accent, but your right. I don't remember what surprised me more in the west coast of Europe, The dope listed on the coffee shop blackboard menus in Holland or the wine being offered in McDonalds in France.

When one thinks of beers from New Zealand we all do I know it, your first thoughts and mine, might be Steinlager, a good light hot weather pop, but I got introduced to a brewery called Speight's and anything they make is a joy. On my first trip and intro I told them to look into exporting it to Canada and Ontario in particular. Repeating my pleas on two return trips. Alas, no luck so far.

I have seen NZ wines appear on the shelves of the LCBO a couple of times. So it can work if you try.

That works, but live a little, expand your horizons ........ or not. My problem there is it takes me back with high school flashbacks too easily.
Bacardi and Coke is just my fav. I drink any and all liquor.
I never thought I would like those Vodka Ice lemonade things, but I do thanks to my gf.
Southern Comfort is my first choice for sipping liqueur.
Mix OJ with Malibu Rum liqueur and you do not even know you are getting drunk, but I pay for all that sugar the next day.

Has anyone watched the "pairing of beer with food" show on Food TV?
It is kind of interesting. Most of those pairing shows are for pairing wine with food.

Southern Comfort, flashback to wineskins and bush parties.

Liquid Cocaine shots, you know your getting drunk but don't give a shit.

Picked up Schmirnoff lemonade the other day, damn cash register displays, and much the same result.

If I in a bar and they don't sell a lot of 50, i have tried a trade off with polish beer, Szyviet ( I know spelling's off, so what) and it close to 50 and in a bigger bottle

I know of the program, but usually catch it if I'm channel surfing. The Thirsty Traveller is another good one.

Have you tried KLB Raspberry Wheat beer? It might be similar. I tried it a couple of summers ago. I liked it but would only drink 1 or 2 of them.

No I haven't tried that one Diana. Can you get it in the LCBO?

on your girlfriend
On tap:
Guinness
Samuel Keith IPA
Rickard Red

Bottle:
Molson Export
Beck's

Others may disagree, but beer from a can has a slightly metallic taste, and does not appeal to me. Yes I know a keg is aluminum too, but it does not give off the same taste at all.

"In the summer I like Steam Whistle -- crisp and refreshing."

So said someone on this interesting thread.

I gotta say that Steam Whistle is the worst fizzy pop dumbbass wimpy lager beer I have ever had. And the smug buggers who make it refuse flat out to brew anything else - like, for instance, a nice flavourful dark ale. I love the IDEA of Steam Whistle (small brewery does its thing), but the result, in this case, really sucks.

So, what do I really think?
