I'm gonna go with Ed Lauter
Not very well known but was the bad guy in a lot of movies, but again apparently a very nice guy.

How about Canada's own Michael Ironside. Played numerous villains/anti heroes over the years.
Tobin Bell. He had the perfect look for playing a bad guy
Michael Madsen. Of course his vile portayal of Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs was infamous.

I loved him as Murray Chadwick in Youngblood. This dude was in more movies than you'd think.
My ATF is Rutger Hauer but he had numerous lead/co-leads in films so didn't include him. Same goes with Gary Oldman and John Lithgow. Dennis Farina is another of my favorites seen below in Midnight Run with Robert DeNiro.
