Piece of trivia. According to Guy Ritchie in a Joe Rogan interview, the two fingers used exclusively by the English,as a fuck you gesture was started by British archers toward the French. If the French captured a British archer they would cut off the index and middle finger on their bow string hand to disable them. British archers who hadn't been caught would use that gesture to show the French that they were still able to fire at them. dunno. sounds plausible.
