I tried to write a book about weight loss. So far all I got was:

Don’t eat so much garbage.
Exercise.

I just need about 300 pages of filler and I’m all set.
Yes. Most books are like that.
However, this is written by a clinical doctor who actually offers an explanation revolving around insulin.
I found it quite interesting and there is no gimmick, he doesn't have anything to sell you.

That's basically all there is to it for most of us. It's not easy, but it is simple. It's a choice that has to be made every single day, especially for people like me that have a sweet tooth. I cope by eating lots of fruit. Fruits are filling and sweet, so they satiate your hunger and give you enough sugar to satisfy your palette. Not as delicious as cheesecake but it is what it is.

The keto diet is by far the easiest diet, you are not eating less or enjoying your food any less, you are still eating foods you like but just cutting out the foods that do the most damage to your body. You give up carbs and sugar for bacon, sausage, steaks, chicken wings etc... It is not a hard trade to make considering the benefits you get.

I am a data driven guy and being able to track your ketones with test strips gives you immediate data on how you are doing. Some foods that you think should contain no carbs or sugars, actually do contain carbs and sugars, and the ketone piss strips will tell you that immediately after you ate it.

At the start all I did was use piss strips and trying to get myself into ketosis, and the weight loss was immediate and dramatic. Everyday you weigh yourself and bam, you are quarter or half a pound lighter, that gives you so much motivation to keep on the keto diet.

I no longer use the piss strips, as I know what foods are good and bad. Even on days where I feel I pigged out, on keto friendly food, the next day when I weigh myself; I still lost weight or my weight has not increased.

The hardest thing to give up was chips and similar snacks, all the best and most convenient snacks are carb based.

The keto diet is easy but not simple, it does not take will power but it requires knowledge. All other diets are simple but not easy.

My 6 pack is a 24 and it’s my fault, it’s ugly and it’s not ok. It’s certainly not beautiful, or anything to be proud of.

Two things.

First, obesity and all the associated health issues do affect all of us. There are only so many hospitals, doctors and hours in a day. It’s a drain on the system.

Second, the people that are lying about fat being beautiful and being healthy at every size are the true culprits. Nobody likes being fat, outside of some fetish weirdos.

If you ever need proof, just look at what happens when some lard ass drops a ton of weight. They show off their new look, and get a ton of praise from everybody.

If you’re fat, don’t be fat. It’s easy. If someone bullies you, stand up to them. Don’t cry about it on the internet and revel in sympathy likes and retweets.

Really it boils down to not being such pussies. Don’t be a pussy.

Isn’t life better that way?
I agree with most of that, except: "If you're fat, don't be fat. It's easy."
Logic would show that if people hate being fat, and not being fat is easy, then no one would be fat. As that's not the case, something in your argument is wrong. Hint, it's the "not being fat is easy" part.

There are several reasons why not being fat can be hard. For one, genetics. For another, upbringing. And, particularly in the West, eating a healthy diet can be difficult when we're constantly being sold lumps of sugar and salt disguised as actual food.
Unlike drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling and other addictions, an eating disorder is not something you can quit cold turkey, as we all need to eat. Imagine if you had a drug addiction, and weren't able to remove that drug from your life, but had to instead give yourself a small taste of it every day. That's not a very effective way of overcoming an addiction!

I will never be “THIN”. I look horrible at the weight I am “suppose” to be.

I can go down about another 15lbs and still look normal and be at a healthier weight. But I would also be unhappy, at a gym 5 days a week for 2 hours, and would simply not enjoy some of the things I like now, like going out for dinner with friends, movies, etc as I eat snacks and stuff. I would hate all meals, etc

I was bigger and many know I lost 30lbs last year. I did that simply by cutting out the things I didn’t need or want. Like sugar in my many cups of coffee. It works for me.

My doctor is happy where I am weight wise. I have two conditions that affect weight. So being the weight I am now, is actually being on top of those illnesses too. So this is what makes me happy. I don’t care what anyone says, my happiness and my doctors approval is all that matters at the end of the day.

Having said all that, I know what it is like to be fat shamed. Well I should say attempted fat shaming. It doesn’t really affect me. If the best line you can come up with is calling me fat, I just think you are weak. Bring something better or don’t bother because I will easily chew you up and spit you out.

The idea that is it okay to fat shame because it affects everyone because of the drain on the medical system, fuck off with that shit. Like seriously, stick a dick in your pie whole. There are so many other things that affect the health care system, like smoking for one. Or all the shot up victims of gun violence. Leave people and their cheese cake alone. This is what hospital and doctors are for. People who use that line are just trying to justify their bullying and need to be noisy busy bodies in everyone’s life. My fat doesn’t affect you so eat it!

I do agree that some people do play the victim card by ‘feeling’ fat shamed when really they are not. It is an internal thing. They don’t like their weight, so they project on to others what they feel about themselves. They then make themselves victims and that is something that needs to stop as well.

I like the clip though. It was a good “makes you think” response.

I think one thing that needs to be added to the topic of conversation is how things are stacked against us here. When you have McDonlads and Tim’s and Wendy’s putting on .99$ drink days with sugary pops and ice creams, but water cost $3.00, what do you expect people to drink?

As to the McD and Timmys and Wendy's force feeding women junk food at the point of a gun because it is only 99 cents ooooor water at $3.00 a bottle. Just use the tap.
On the biggest loser, men could shed pounds way more easily than women. Women seem to have their work cut out for them in that respect. I have had little, actually, no success in achieving noticeable change in what I laughingly refer to as my physique. So I don't fat shame anyone. except in jest.
However. I do notice a disproportionate number of women walking through the mall or down the street slurping on milky sugary fatty drinks in clear plastic containers which can't be for any nutritional need, judging from the 50 lbs or so they are over the water mark.

The simple answer is that it’s easier to be fat. That’s why they call it “letting yourself go.”

Sure there are people with medical conditions, but they’re the extreme minority of cases. Then the whole “it’s cheaper to eat junk” is a complete fantasy. It’s way cheaper to buy groceries and make healthy meals, it just also takes time and effort.

Food companies are partly to blame without a doubt. Hiding sugar in everything is a real problem, and they should face consequences for doing so.

As for “genetics”, this is absolute fantasyland.

There's a ton of "shaming" that goes on in society, weight, sexual, political, economic, etc.
Most people don't feel like they fit in or are accepted on some level, for some reason, that's not shaming.
The term "bullying" will lose all relevance if you apply it to every situation that someone is made to feel uncomfortable.

Hahaha. Sure, there's plenty of people who hide behind genetics, but that doesn't mean it's not a factor. I went to school with a guy who ate twice as much as anyone else and was thin as a whip. Metabolism varies by person.

I do agree the opinion that "it's cheaper to eat junk" is false.

You're right. It's just easier to not put effort into it. We like to think that we're complex but we're just animals and like most animals with an abundance of things that taste good, we'll keep eating until we're fat.

Sure, fast food joints sell water for $3 a bottle but you have the choice to go to the grocery store and buy a 24 case of bottled water for the same $3, or you can use the tap, or you can not eat at fast food places. It's not the price dictating behaviour, it's flavour.

The dude in the OP's video says that people need to be educated.... we have been thoroughly educated since birth. We all know what makes us fat, so more education on what we already know is not the answer. His rant is more deflection to protect those that don't want to take responsibility for the consequences of their choices. Bill Maher is on point.

I understand that it's hard to say, "yeah I'm overweight because I eat too much, I eat too much unhealthy foods, I don't exercise, but if I did eat properly and exercise I'd be more physically attractive to most people and be healthier". But deny it all we want, those are the facts.

I see people struggling to just walk every day because they're carrying too much weight. Their knees, back, and heart constantly under stress. What an awful way to live. Oh, I know, I know... big is beautiful.

Everyone is bound by their genetics. I won’t ever be an NHL player no matter what I do. You can still top out or bottom out within your range.

I think the “fat shaming” is generally directed to people that have exceeded the range. Plus or minus 50 lbs is not a range meant to be carried.

I never touch those drink deals. Water or coffee are basically all I drink. So I wouldn't know if it is just women who drink them. I would suspect it is men too but that wouldn't fit your women hating narrative.

As opposed to the weight you are? lol....
.
And what did I say about fat shaming. It doesn't bother me, it just makes you look weak.
