This is some scary shit.

Supposedly Fentanyl is much stronger than heroin, gives you a much better buzz and is much more addictive. This is the part media reports much less on, because they dont want people to get sucked into this drug, so instead they just focus on the overdose part of it (which of course is just as real):

Over 20 overdoses and 2 deaths in the past 3 days in Toronto (notice I didn't say Dodge City). Apparently, one problem is that doctors are no longer prescribing Oxycontin so addicts are turning to street drugs.

Just skimmed this thread, so don't know if this has been mentioned, but fentanyl is also being cut into cocaine and other street drugs.

Yep, and it's only going to get worse. Scary shit!

So sad, two 18 year old women found dead in a condo of suspected drug overdose.
When the media reports overdose deaths, think of people of the stereotypical "junkie" sticking needles in their arms. It's not the case.

Now that we have two 18 year old girls (cute Facebook selfies to follow) more focus will surely be placed on the subject. Unfortunately, nothing is going to change, overdoses and deaths will continue to rise under the current system which is Police try to find out who sold the drugs and put them in jail. Or worse, put the users in jail.

How long has the war on drugs been going on? And are they any closer to winning it? The answer is no. And think of the public money spent on Policing, arresting, court time and incarcerating what amounts to people with an addiction. These people don't need to be locked up, they need help. Our whole system is ass backwards.

Look to Portugal for the answer to the problem! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/portugal-decriminalised-drugs-14-years-ago-and-now-hardly-anyone-dies-from-overdosing-10301780.html

Not yet, but I'll put money on it. My guess is Fentanyl laced oxycodone pills or cocaine. I'll be surprised if these girls were injecting
There's a certain incall agency located on Eva rd. which I wont mention.

I hope it wasnt them :(

I'm old enough to remember "speed kills". Unfortunately, death is the only cure for stupid.

People also die from legal drugs so legalization is not the magic bullet. Heath Ledger quickly comes to mind.

Portugal is no friggin' answer. My cousin went there, basically to use without any legal penalty. He was retired, had a decent pension and was a lifelong intermittent drug user, including opiates. So use he did. Guess what happened to him?

Oh yes, he OD-ed and died a couple of years later. In the meantime, he had two or three crises where he collapsed and semi died. Kept using anyway. It was Portugal, so no authorities stepped in and made him stop using or get at least medical supervision.

I was watching LivePD on A&E and they said just a few tiny crumbs (3 milligrams or so) is enough to OD on. And you dont even have to ingest it, it can be absorbed through the skin as well

The amount of fentanyl in this pic will kill you:

I didn't know Heath Ledger was "stupid", Ridey. Intelligent and very talented are the adjectives that come to mind. And I would use the same adjectives to describe others I have know who have dependence issues with opiates. If it was only the "stupid" who died, the tragedy might be less.
