I just wanted to see who else had fun with Kidney stones. was in pain because of them in September 07 and couldn't get urology Doc soon enough. I don't like Tylenol so took 2 acupuncture visits with great success. acu p lasted me till now and was fortunate to get a resent appointment to blow the stones within a week of the Uro-Doc appointment. So after i'm had mine done on Friday... and fortunate i am not needing any pain killers. Day after i when to visit an SP ... think that helps with the plumbing down there ;) ... just didn't get much feed back on the do-s and don't-s after the procedure(ie drinking and foods)...anyone else!?

My doc told me to quit drinking tea and cola drinks.....tannic acid in them caused the stones to form but I don't know if this is the same for everyone. Passed 13 stones in 20 years but haven't hadsd one in 6 years now...:)

interesting...heard about the Cola's causing the problem...i don't drink mineral, spring or tap water if i can avoid it...have a RO filter system at home. As i don't drink or eat much dairy at all or dark green vegs ..i figure that my metabolism took the minerals from the proteins i was eatting...or from what i heard ..so to speak......the Acupunture really helped... So Beer is the way to go for drinking :)

I've had them 4-5 times over the past 10 years. They tell you to eliminate all possible caffeine... but I love coffee too much to give it up.

The real secret is to drink water... water and more water.

I had my first one in March, 6 hours after getting off the plane from Florida.

It was in my bladder but I couldn't pass it and I had an appointment for the doc to stick a probe up my dick to remove it. That was about 10 weeks after the original episode. Amazingly I passed it (no pain) 2 days before the procedure was to be done. Very fortunate.

Man ...can you take those stones to a jeweler!? ... JK ...i hate that fun with collecting the broken stones...you pee-ing into a small funnel to strain the broken bits.....what my Uro-Doc wants with them i can fathom.

Was it Will Shatner that sold his Stone on Ebay!?

I just had 5 big ones removed. They were calcium oxcalate, my uro doc said it was probably nuts which I used to eat a lot of. The absolute worst part was removing the stents that were left in my ureters for 2 weeks. At least I got a few dozen percocets out of the deal!

its sucks that one has to drink large amounts of water to flush the system...almost a week and still passing sediment...feels like a constant Bladder infection. Uro Doc has me taking potassium Citrate fuzzy tablets in water 3 times a day to left dissolve remaining stones.

Actually the best thing for kidney health and stones is PURE CRANBERRY JUICE (not the one with sugar in it or the cocktail cranberry) but one that's about $10 to $15 per litre, usually found in health food sections or stores.

For gallstones and gallbladder attacks: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR in a cup of water, or EPSOM SALT in a cup of water.
yup..good mention...i have been buying the $9 jars of unmolested juice that isn't from concentrate ..helps but before this was drinking Cran left and right for a whole year ..the 3 dollar stuff from pres choice...doesn't help dissolve the stone in my case...but the proper juice might.

Cranberries (and unfortunately many other healthy plants) are full of oxalates.

Been through it 3 times, including laser surgery:eek: . Nothing beats 1) water all day all the time 2) pee, even when you do not need to 3) cut down on protein and try to avoid the worst oxalate veggies.
