That was two and a half decades later Fast. "54 40 or fight!" was an Oregon Boundary Question slogan between roughly 1840 and 1846 when the boundary was settled at the 49th parallel West of the Rocky Mountains.

Seems like FAST was a little slow on his history, not quite a slogan for the conflict in discussion here, but what's 20 years between friends.

Want an anything goes rematch? Thought so.
Sure, you'd lose again.

You lost in Vietnam, you lost in Iraq, you lost in Afghanistan.

But here's the best part - Canadians don't want to conquor and run the United States. It's your problem.

Fast, the slogan of the "Warhawks" in the War of 1812, was “Free Trade and Sailors’ Rights!” They, however, left unsaid their real issue: free land.

Just visited Fort George by Niagara-on-the-lake
which was called Newark back then and was the capital (not York) and was burned down by the Americans

You can see Fort Niagara(Americans) from Fort George (Loyalist)

Great day trip

More B.S. Kirk. The surge in Iraq worked and the region is stable.

Afghanistan? Oh yeah the Taliban have us right where they want U.S. No thanks to Canada. But hey you tried.

Just like we did nothing in the 80's the Taliban drove out the Soviets. Yeah right.

Vietnam was a disaster but that's largely because the war was not fought properly.

P.S. Is the Canadian army still taking the year off so the soldiers (Both of them) can recover?
Vietnam could only have been won with Nuclear . Carpet bombing does not work as the Enemy goes underground

How is Iraq stable? Interestingly it is not talked abot now that the troops have left

I guess Iraq lives do not count only Americans

Bush should be held accountable to a world court

Fort Niagara goes even further back to 1726, before King George's War/The War of the Austrian Succession. A very interesting place to visit particularly during one of the Colonial War reenactments.

Queenston Heights and the village of Queenston are another good daytrip easily combined with the above. The 200th aniversary of the battle is coming up on Saturday October 13.

Kennedy and the Johnson got U.S. into Nam. BTW if the French did not needlessly go into Nam from 1946 to 1954 (May 7 Dien Bien Phu Falls) then this mess could've been avoided.

Furthermore Kennedy rightly refused to accept a North Vietnam communist state (side by side with a non-communist South) Fine. Then why not fight the war properly?

It was Nixon who cleaned up the mess best he could. Then two years after the Paris Peace accord established a North/South Vietnam the dems pulled out. Brilliant huh? Where was Harry Truman when we needed him? Not surprisingly after that the South fell.

P.S. While others have to share the Vietnam fiasco...America is not blameless either. I'm not implying that.
First, the French did not go needlessly into VN. The French were in VN since the1880's. It was part of their colonial empire.

And what is "fight the war properly"? Nuke a small 3rd World nation into a toxic wasteland, so the US could still swagger around boasting "We never lost a war"? Let's have a sense of proportion here. 40 years after the US pulled out, VN is a friendly nation, albeit communist. South Viet Nam was a corrupt and unviable state which could not have survived without massive US intervention and the famous "Domino Theory", which was the 1960's equivalent of "WMD" was manifestly a bunch of horseshit.
