if peoples sexual tendencies were taken to account before applying for a teaching job no heterosexual male would ever get a teaching job in a high school.
Same as homosexual too.

Apparently a teacher for 2 years an ex porn star for 5 years. Not sure how long she is suspended with pay which prevents an education tribunal.

"."
That is not correct ,she was in porn almost 11 years ago, when she was 23 years of age

She did it to make ends meet ,yes raising 4 kids ,plus child support which is a given if your a DAD or accessable , then she joined the US ARMY ,then she went to school to become a teacher

I feel bad for the lady and I don't think it is fair what they did to her (I heard she was teaching for 11 years with an excellent teaching record)

With that said I caught Ron Jeremy on CNN talking about the issue. I just missed what he said but I know they were talking about this. After seeing RJ, I started thinking where would I draw the line? I am sure Ron is a cool guy but I would not want him near my kid. This may be unfair to him and could just be a perception on my part.

Before you say this lady isn't like RJ, what criteria would you use?

So if you let this lady teach kids is there anyone you wouldn't want to be teaching your kids from the Adult industry? It is a tough question.

For the record, I don't think because someone was part of the adult industry it should exclude them from teaching kid.

Good for them, and good for her. This kind of discrimination is so unfair.

if she lied on her application she is out.

Such is the way it works. Now if she listed her previous occupation as actress she might have a case

Dye was a psychological operations specialist (focusing on target analysis) in the 4th PSYOP Group in the United States Army where she was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

In 1997 she did a few movies at age 23 to make ends meet then re-enlisted in the Army as a Military Police officer at Fort Lewis, Washington where she worked in a military prison.

She appeared in a few more films after this,She primarily appeared in anal, lesbian and interracial based films.

After acquiring a bachelor's degree in teaching with a concentration in the sciences from Murray State University she began teaching high school science class in Marshall County, Kentucky, and later Paducah, KY. Her past in porn was revealed during a hearing for child custody after divorcing her husband. She was suspended for the remainder of the school year and her contract was not renewed[1]. Dye has expressed an interest in returning to complete a master's degree in the science, with no interest in returning to the adult film industry. She has also filed a lawsuit seeking reinstatement[2]. She appeared on the episode of Dr. Phil that originally aired on 06 December 2006, discussing her ordeals as a former porn star.

This is a weird question, because I'm in the industry and I don't think there is anything wrong with me. Am I a fish in water?

Maybe, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong, or inherently immoral about this industry or anyone in it, so I find that line of reasoning pretty puzzling.

I would actually find her experiences quite valuable. Without bringing her experiences into the classroom where they would be as inappropriate as any teacher's sex/private life, she no doubt brought a lot of wisdom to her work.

Maybe it is strange question but is there anyone in the anyone in the adult industry that you would not want to teach your kids? In this instance with Dye maybe is is a great teacher but they maybe using her as an example to others,

(You got know too there is a big difference between being an SP and being a performer for the porn industry. One you caught on "tape" it may follow you around the rest of your life.)

I don't know if there is anything "wrong" with you... I would suspect not...

aha the old "if the glove don't fit" argument ;) sad but true.

and what a world it would be if ex-sexworkers could truly say so openly.

i'm glad this lady had a chance to show people that we're not the degenerates society sometimes thinks we are, even if it does turn out she had to lie on her application to do it.

You just don't get it. You are so offened by her being fired you can not even see any other position.

Not everyone is cut out to be a teacher, but someone's job as a sexworker wouldn't be the deciding factor for me.

Here is a suggestion

petition to have her hired in your school district. Do something proactive.

No, I acknowleged that lying on your application loses you your job. I'm also hoping that someone like her, (or like me!) won't have to in the future because of assumptions. Do you know what I mean?
