It is always difficult to judge what you would actually do when confronted by violence and evil. How do you protect teenagers? You can't really. You have to instill in the children the right set of values, the right decision making process, so that when they become the teens that want to strike out on their own, that they have a foundation to stand upon.

Telling a 16 year old to not have friends and to yell at him to get back in the house is nothing more than admission that you have failed.

Many teens have trouble making good choices, and a herd mentality. However, with all respect for the son in this story he seems to have had greater problems doing so than most. I hope that he is able to turn his life around.

It is a troubling article.
