Back in the 80's Newfoundland went ahead 2 hours for one year.It was great in the summer. Didn't get completely dark until 11. Sucked watching the Blue Jays though. Games didn't come on until at least 10.
That was the Newfie joke running across NF at the time. You seem to have recognized it. You must have in your memory a fairly large number of Newfie jokes.

Farming will be fully automated. There are plenty of reasons to do it. Who wants to be a farmer anyways? It's very hard work for very little money. Welcome to the future.

This is totally off topic to this thread so just a shortlist of farm jobs that will never be automated in our lifetime.
Maintenance and repairs, oh and pulling that autonomous machine out of the mud hole when it's stuck
Filling the seeder
Hauling grain from the combine into storage and out again when sold
Feeding livestock, nursing them, being midwife when needed
Hauling their shit
And the list goes on.....and on.....

Ya but no one wants to do all that hard work. So don't think they can't make a robot to do it.

I'm sure humans are smart enough to live life without the need for adjusting a clock 60 minutes back and forth.

It is unnecessary nowadays. Saskatchewan doesn't do it. Sir Sanford Fleming created it mainly because of train schedules. From Wikipedia:

"After missing a train while traveling in Ireland in 1876 because a printed schedule listed p.m. instead of a.m., he proposed a single 24-hour clock for the entire world, located at the centre of the Earth, not linked to any surface meridian.[12] At a meeting of the Canadian Institute in Toronto on February 8, 1879, he linked it to the anti-meridian of Greenwich (now 180°). He suggested that standard time zones could be used locally, but they were subordinate to his single world time, which he called Cosmic Time. He continued to promote his system at major international conferences[13] including the International Meridian Conference of 1884. That conference accepted a different version of Universal Time but refused to accept his zones, stating that they were a local issue outside its purview. Nevertheless, by 1929, all major countries in the world had accepted time zones."

I'll be happily snoozing in my grave long before your prediction comes to fruition. You will need a robot or a fleet of robots that can work as mechanic, welder, plumber, electrician, labourer, veterinarian, nutritionist, financial analyst, business manager, etc seamlessly in a timely manner and within a constrained budget. 35 years in the biz says good luck!

As far as daylight saving, I would love to see it extended year round.

I think you are confusing time zones with daylight savings time. If they were to keep one (standard/DST) all year round - I would pick keeping DST. I'll give up a 6 AM sunrise for a later sunset in the summer anytime.

There isn’t a single good reason for changing the clocks twice a year. Saskatchewan has the right idea.

A good reason to keep Daylight Savings Time, or ever double Daylight Savings Time, is because there is more sunlight. It helps melt the snow faster in the spring.
Thank you for this! I've been giggling about it for a few days. I'll have have to remember to use that nugget when the clock change next.

I'm with the majority here, I hate time change and don't see any need for it. It would be nice if they got rid of it. BTW everything I've read says farmers hate it because it screws up their schedules.
