Last post in this thread... this issue is like the abortion issue...nobody's gonna be swayed. With a basic understanding of pedagogy, a very easy argument can be made that the really important years and most important years of education are long before the 'lecturer' years. I agree it's a hard concept to grasp but it is a reality.

Roger that...nothing against teachers but the reality is they are far away from reality. There is corporate pressure as mentioned and there are many other occupations that are more "hazardous" than having 30 odd kids...some with no holiday benefit except the mere statutory one and no pensions. I truly believe teachers needs to wake up. Many positions at lecturer level even pay less than Ontario teachers and less benefits....dah

Maybe my engineering profs were not typical but when people in class gave them problems the prof told them to GTFO. I don't think teachers have that option.
