It has been reported the V DUB will not sign again with the Jays. Thats a shame. But it can also be a blessing. Off season if he does not sign look at him being traded. I see a starting pitcher in the mix for us......we have a good outfield now.....so lets see where this goes.

During the Yankees/Red Sox game yesterday, they mentioned how would Wells look in a Red Sox uniform, as Boston hasn't been pleased with Coco Crisp. And something I was unaware of, but Boston had tabled a better offer for Abreu than the Yankees but held of because they didnt want to guys who play strictly RF. The day after Trot Nixon goes down and its too late...

Do you think the Yankees would give up Wang for Wells?
The problem with Wang is his low K/9 ratio. Certainly not to take anything anyway from what he has done this year... I am simply using the ratio for projection purposes. Generally, guys with good records and such low ratios, (less then 4K/9) are having peak years. (Do you remember Jeff Ballard?).

I think the Jays can do better - and the Yanks would do that trade.

Hey you don't like to see Wells go but we have been getting a great deal on

him all these years ( I think he makes approx 5 million )
Counters all the other "great" contracts granted by Ricciardi

Just watched Riccardi and Wells on the TV and both refuted the ESPN story. They were very polite about it, but basically called the author a liar and the story bullshit. Both talked about how they will negotiate over the winter for a new contract without closing any doors on him moving on after 2007 if it comes to that. In other words, everything is fine and normal.

trade wells??

My 2 cents!!!

personally i beleive the jays shud trade wells, i wouldn't for the life of me
understand why you would trade a player like wells to the yankees or red sox
they couldn't put together a package of prospects and players that
could come and help the Jays immediately like other teams could!!

if the jays are gonna trade wells it should be in this off season where is
stock going to highest, and if JP could get back a good young arm, an every
day player and a starting pitcher who could come in immediately and help
the jays i would pull the trigger on a move like that!!

an outfield of reed, rios and the cat would be that bad!!

WElls = overrated...Trade him while he's still worth something but for something that can help us...Such as a bonus to our starting pitchers routine...

Rumors a couple of weeks ago had Wells wanting to play for the Rangers. Makes sense for Wells; he is from the Dallas area and best friends with Michael Young. However, a trade to Texas would not make sense for the Jays. There is nothing of equal value. If you trade for an arm, I would look to Chicago for Freddy Garcia who has been rumored to be on the blocK. However, V DUB provides a lot of protection for Rios, Glaus and Overbay. If you want to protect the batting lineup, place Reed Johnson in centre and trade Wells to the Pirates and bring over the Canadian Jason Bay (wishful thinking) and an arm.
