Lots of rookie mistakes out there, especially with newbies...

A couple years ago I contacted a young lady whose ad intrigued me. I sent her an e-mail through her hotmail account. When she replied back from the obviously made up account, the e-mail address was correct, but it came "from" her real name! I guess she didn't realize that when Hotmail asks you for your first and last name, you can put anything you want in there, and she didn't realize that whatever you do put in those fields would show up! I immediate sent her a message back saying she should change that right away... which she did.

Whatever you put on the net becomes fair game as far as most people think. I'm not tech savvy so I stay away from stuff like twitter or FB. Especially FB as they save everything you post in their servers even if you delete and close your account they still have everything you put on your FB page forever. Saw an interesting documentary a few months ago on FB, pretty scary when insiders at FB say once you open an account and post stuff it belongs to them whether you delete it or not, and I wouldn't believe their privacy policy as former FB employees stated its just a way to appease the ones who complain about lack of privacy and control over who owns what you post on your account. As far as FB is concerned once it's posted it's in their storage forever.

This can also happen to hobbyists as well. Remember when Rogers "upgraded" their system and the caller id on the escort's cell actually showed your name as well as your cell number?
