During my sessions I spend quite some time talking with my dates and I repeat often, so I do get to know the girls I see a little bit. And interesting thing that I noticed is that quite a few of them are somewhat religious, attending church regularly. Funny, considering that the book suggests that they should be burned for what they do lol

Two kinds of folks go to church.....those who are looking for answers, salvation, inspiration and comfort....and the hypocrites who think its only for the holier-than-thou.

Why be so judgmental, you see one evil sin of theirs but they may have many other good deeds you'll never know.

As an unbeliever I see church going in a predominantly christian society being
an innocuous social function. I don't go to church but won't make this kind of
disparaging remarks on those who do.

Hmmm.... Interesting. I don't see any moral contradiction here. In my view, an individual can be devout and a SP without any moral inconsistencies. Sincerely, Jon .

I keep being told that Jesus died for my sins.
So I figure I can sin as much as I want, It's already paid for.

According to John 3:16, I believe so, but you should really read the fine print there first.
What's the fun reading the fine print?

And here I was thinking it was some stupid sign people held up at sporting events.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

According to John 3:16, [/B].
It would have been better if you had quoted John 10:15.

John 10:15
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

As an ex-evangelical christian I think I can provide some insight. Christians cherry pick the parts of the Bible they like and are comfortable with, so focus on God's love, and conveniently ignore:

1 Corinth. 6:9-10
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

People are really good at cognitive dissonance!

People go to church for community and comfort. It's often the religion of their childhood so it is a comfort.

My two cents.

So which was the Christ, Paul or Jesus?

Further is St. Paul speaking literally - this as a laundry list anything on it bad, anything not on it good. Or is St. Paul making a point about needing to do something to receive Grace - a very non Calvinist perspective. Further is St. Paul not arguing against other Christians who take a position contrary to his?

This is entirely extra-biblical speculation. In the Bible St. Mary Magdalene is never termed such. In any event it is a conceit of the Western Church, there never has been such a tradition in the Eastern Churches. It all stems merely from two stories in St. Luke's Gospel being back to back and conflating them into a single story.

I'm not catching on to what that 'evil sin" SP's would have? When is having sex an evil sin? It's a natural thing that brings pleasure to those who practice it. How is that evil? Who's definition of evil are we using ?
