It's not even that, really.
Elon is fine with people facing consequences for being a dick, it is just who gets to decide what being a dick is and who gets to dictate consequences.
Elon thinks the wrong people are facing consequences for "being a dick".
Elon has
I think it's horrible. Look at Italy, where Berlusconi was PM for a long time. He used his media channels to promote himself and his party, which isn't good. As I posted in this thread, many media groups are owned or controlled by the wealth. The Thompson Family (owners of Thompson-Reuters) or Conrad Black (use to own Harrbinger Group, which owned the National Post and bunch of other papers) made fortunes in the news business. Rupert Murdoch owns a global collection of papers and broadcasters, and manipulates coverage. Look at the scandals his organizations have been involved in, or the disinformation Fox spreads.
Oh, it’s far worse. Gov’t can’t even break the dynasties up because the politicians are all bought and paid for by the media giants on both sides of the isle.

You act like all of the most influential social platforms and mass media are not already owned by the richest men on earth.

At least you now have one that claims to be anti-censorship.

What does this mean for existing shareholders since he bought it for $54.20 and plans on taking it private?

Does this means he will pay everyone $54.20 for their shares? What happens to people who bought higher then this?

Does anyone know how this will actually work.

What happens then if the price goes to $60 per share before going private? Or how about $30 per share. As an understand it they will pay a premium price over the market value if it goes private but at what price? The market can do anything from now until then and what happens then to all the bag holders.

To the haters maybe try and research a little what this means, use his exact words and then it will be worth it to have a intelligent discussion. There is a thread from Jack former CEO of Twitter that outlines how to open source Twitter to see exactly what the algos are doing and what he has planned. Elon even mentioned he was thinking of opening this on github. However not worth posting the details unless someone is willing to understand it, due the research and provide value other then echo chamber each other cry scream and just say ohh this is bad for free speech, Elon is an asshole billionaire type of drivel without actually putting thought into it. It’s evident in this thread and many other threads and just filled with hate and complaining. Although not everyone some posters actually try to have an intelligent conversation without gaslight or trolling which is always appreciated but can quickly get extinguished by the haters, trolls and gas lighters. Elon says that he needs to follow the laws of the country it services, it’s important for his critics to have a voice and many other wonderful free speech principles which is awesome and exactly what Twitter needed. I recall having a discussion on here about Twitter and majority spoke negatively against it and now magically are offended that Elon is buying it. How perspective’s change. I have been using Twitter since 2008 and this is very important to me what happened with the buy out.

I am not engaging in any haters unless it is done with some thoughtfulness and intends on providing values to the issue of free speech and Twitter.

LOL.....The progressive left is going to ,be mighty upset about this.

The rest of us will keep our fingers crossed that this is a good thing.......

I'm guessing that windbag Trump gets reinstated.
Who cares about what the progressive left do or think other then the few minority that make most of the noise. They contradict each other so much and their core principles and values that hardly anyone has any respect left for them, including their own. Their intimidation tactics and bs can’t work anymore especially now that Musk owns Twitter.

I don’t think Trump wants to come back. There are reports he confirmed this.

Also Twitter is going to be now a private company. If they don’t like what he does with it they can go ahead and start their own 😅

You act like a psychic like you know exactly what Elon will do with Twitter when it reality you have no idea what he intends on doing with free speech and open sourcing and are just acting like an echo chamber to other billionaires who own the media and tell you what to think and say. Like Mark Zuckerberg and friends…

Who cares who bought what media?

Lets talk about the fact that Jeff Bezos' mom was barely seventeen when she birthed him.

Elon lost the CEO position at Tesla along with having to pay 40 millions because he lost in court over using twitter to influence Tesla stock.

Then Tesla made over 100 million value about a year ago announcing Tesla would accept Bitcoin. Pocketing the money then announcing Tesla wouldn't after all.

I am betting you today Elon will be the first men to reach 1 trillion value.

To be honest he would probably be happier if he had simply learn how to dance.

I think this thread was pretty accurate.

Elon announces he'll join the board. Stock goes up. No wait, he'll buy Twitter. Stock goes up. No, wait, he's doing neither. Closes his position and profits.
