Electronics Supply Store - I need a telephone hub

Where is a good electronics supply store?

I need to find a Telephone Hub (essentially, a splitter for phone lines.)

I've redone my house so every jack is a home run now. I probably have 20 phone lines now all going to a central location. I have 1 line coming in, so it needs to tie into the hub and then each line has its own connections.

Amazon just has one with six connection nodes.

Can't seem to find any more than 6 on line. Obviously, they make them. (I'm not even 100% sure they call them "hubs" to tell you the truth.)

Anyway, that's what I'm after.

you can buy something called a bix block,which can allow any number of jacks on the same line by doing something called cross connecting...usually used by commercial or businesses, but available to the public through a electrical wholesaler..had it in my old house...15 jacks on the same line...pm me if you want somemore info...

There's an electronics shop called Sayal (sayal.com)They're in Mississauga, Cambridge, Barrie, etc. I've been to the one in Mississauga (Dixie and Matheson area) and they sell pretty much anything you can imagine. Like another member said, you need a BIX block, some telephone wire and a punch down tool.

There's also Active Surplus on Queen and A-1 Electronics in Etobicoke I think. Your best bet is Sayal because I know they have what you're looking for.

Second this. Telephone wiring is simple 12v DC stuff. You just need a terminal block or bix block, strip the wire ends and terminate them together.

There's also a Sayal's on Vic Park just south of Gordon Baker Drive, in case that's more convenient. You could try checking their web site, www.sayal.com, the catalogue is a bit primitive but I found a reference to a 25 pair bix block that looks like it will do your job.

Have you considered using IP phones and a softswitch (pbx) that gates out to the landline? Then the whole problem of dealing with phone lines goes away completely, assuming can deliver IP service everywhere you want a phone. Can use ATA's to leverage existing phones or just buy native voip devices. Also gives you the option to route calls out to a discount voip service instead of the landline based on a dialing plan and gain a lot of features.

That is how an office would do it, and the technology is no longer really out of reach for home use.

I'm looking for a store that supplies telephone hubs, not alternatives, not being told to go "wireless".

I don't know what it is with guys on TERB, but they always take it upon themselves to enlighten you to your way of thinking. A guy starts a thread about whether to buy a Honda Accord, or a Nissan Altima and guys start chiming in to tell him to buy an Audi or a Lexus. The guy asked about Accords and Altimas.

I asked if anyone knew of a good electronics store that sells telephone hardware and I get "wireless" and "IP phones with a softswitch"

That's not what I asked.

I was not asking a broad based question like, "what do you think is better for my telecommunications needs?" I was asking where to buy a telephone hub.
