I use to always buy Sony when it came to television, but when I switched to samsung, I've never turned back. I have two samsung tv's and one monitor and they're all in good working order. My first samsung tv is at least 12 years old. My current tv and monitor are close to 9 years-knock on wood.

Out being curious
Does anyone here have a curved screen TV?
Are they any better than a flat screen? Is it just a gimmick?
I have a 65 curved. It is a gimmick, it does not make the experience more immersive, i have since got an oled and an xbr900F

Curved is for the game room, the oled is for movies, and the xbr is the primary tv watching

I would happily help the OP out if he would answer what his budget and primary use for the tv will be

Two years ago I bought a Samsung smart Tv. It worked great until about 6 months ago Now the smart part doesn't connect. I called Samsung, and they said sorry.. it's out of warranty... take it to a dealer. It also turns off every 15 min, and the screen states that it is updating. This takes about 2 min. The estimate to fix it is $300. I sort of fixed it, I bought a Roku for $30, and that works great. Would I buy another Samsung …..NO.
warranty is 1 year on any new electronic devices... you bought an old used TV. that is why it is out of warranty. same with your $30 TV. what is your point to complain? getting sympathy? Oh, I feel so sorry for you, I would never buy this brand and only bauy the brand you recommend. Cheap ass

Are you for real??? Do you like putting words in people's mouths or you just can't read??? Or are you just dumb as a post??

He purchased a new t.v, and it the fucking thing is having problems 18 months after he purchased it. It's passed the one year warranty so Samsung won't help him. I'm sure he probably spent about 2G's on his t.v and is quite annoyed it's having problems after a year and half. Are we clear??? You get it now?? The $30 was not for a t.v (where the fuck can you buy a t.v for $30??), it was for a Roku which is not a t.v and he's happy with it.

Roku is also a brand-name on TVs made by companies smart enough to use their OS instead of 'developing' their own.

Too bad your first language needs so much profanity to make even simple points. It actually weakens and distracts from them.

Maybe for you seeing as you completely missed the point. Even if Roku makes T.V's, that's not what he purchased to fix his original Samsung T.V. You gonna keep getting caught up in semantics or are you going to realize Micber is an ass clown and deserved to be called out on it. I would have thrown more profanity at him but don't feel like getting banned.

To bad you miss simple points in your first language.

Did a lot of research and want to share the distilled down version.

First, quick correction - Samsung's high end T.V.'s are QLED, not OLED such as LG offers.

QLED is awesome. OLED is awesome. Love them both.

For a bit more detail on what is different between them - https://www.cnet.com/news/qled-vs-oled-samsung-tv-and-lg-tv-2019-comparison/

You can't go wrong with OLED or QLED.

I went to a couple stores (Best Buy then A.V. speciality shops) and did the simple 'look and see' what I like. For me, QLED was my preference.

Samsung's QLED line comes in the 6, 7, 8 and 9 series. Higher the number, higher the features, and higher the price.

My setup is a 55" 6 series, first one I bought to try out, setup next to the main computer in the office (and yes connected as an extra monitor). Works great. Second unit is a 55" 8 series - best value for your dollar especially when on sale - that is my bedroom setup for T.V. watching and movies. Living room is a projector/screen/big honking stereo but that would be a whole other thread.

Depending on the OP's budget, Samsung QLED 55" 6 series can be down close to $1,000 when on sale (new). A QLED 55" 8 series will be in the $2-3K range depending on sales. 55" OLED's are between $1600 to $4500+ (shout out to thecuriousgeorge, xbr900F is amazing and I just couldn't pull the trigger on dropping $5K+ on a T.V. with as little as I actually watch, but kudos to you) - if you visit a store and enjoy the OLED models more, like I did, just do a little homework on the versions/features to get your best value.

And for a giggle...for those who click this link still tonight:

$30K for a T.V. (1-2 year old model, still on the website, and yes they have stock it appears) and the recent sale was for $15,000.00 off - what a deal!

More or less what i was asking....

I need the budget and purpose! I know am being persistent about this, but it is because i spent months researching this...visited every effin store and made them play my source material vs. Their promo shit that always looks phenomenal...

The QLED's are great but there is a stark difference in features based on models...i wouldnt go any less than an 8 for convenience sake

My curved is a 9 series and it kicks ass (i just wished it wasnt curved)....better than the majority of the newer tvs i see..

Again...each of the 3 "real" tvs in my house serve their purpose...

There isnt one that would be preferred in all circumstances...

If the OP would repsond or PM i would be hapoy to help him out.

I can't agree. I have one Panasonic Plasma and an LG OLED. The OLED has much deeper blacks than plasma. OLED just unbeatable.
QLED kills OLED for quality

Plasma would have better black (assuming same gen / quality TV) but Plasma is dead tech now anyways

Obviously depends on your budget, lots of great options out there, my view: LG OLED, best tv on the market.

Last year's model relatively inexpensive, this year's model has a new processor and is a little more expensive.

Stay away from the ones that created their own smart software. Go for ones that have Chromecast built in. That way you only need to hit a button on your laptop, tablet, or phone and it goes to the screen. Never out of date because all works thought Chrome browser or app on phone. Bonus: can stream anything including putlocker.ninja and fmovies.io or any other site hosting sports.
This explains a few things.

I have a Panasonic Viera from 2014 or thereabouts. TV is reliable. Picture is ok at best. Not very good in the light.

BUT I recently subscribed to Amazon Prime (long story as I don't particularly like Amazon).

I was trying to figure out how to enable Amazon Prime TV. It would appear (or so Amazon tells me) that the TV is too old to support prime. There is no Amazon app on its menu, the firmware is up to date, I've tried every setting on it. Nope.

The software could easily be updated to include an Amazon app, but nope, this way they can sell more TVs I guess.

Fuckers.

At least with Chrome, the software will update, though it will probably record my conversations and turn the secret camera on to watch me.

Samsung‘s are OK as long as nothing goes wrong.
They have terrible customer service and they will give you very limited assistance.
You buy one you take your chances.
