Why is this boondoggle taking so long?
1. Incompetency by upper/middle management ? Poor planning ? Poor construction? Poor design?
2. Unionized workers hardly working ?
3. Corrupt contractors dragging out the project as long as possible?
4. Supply chain disruption?
5. Unexpected construction issues like, waking a prehistoric monster or finding alien eggs?

What? What?

Who can explain it without using any political rhetoric

All of the above? (except maybe for the monster and the eggs)

Plus the fact that it's a government mandated project, accountable only to the governments that have been involved, who take no responsibility at all for the monstrous delays and cost overruns, but keep financing and tolerating them. All at the citizens' and taxpayers' expense, not to mention the traffic jams and terrible impact it's had on the businesses affected adversely along Eglinton throughout...

Heads to roll:

1) Vester
2) Mulroney
3) Ford
Well, if you want heads to roll how about the head engineers down to the labourers and everyone in between? This project along with the Union Station eff up proves that Ontario labour and construction professionals are poor to mediocre quality and couldn't complete a project on time on budget if their lives depended on it.
I live near Yonge and Eg, 60% of the hard hats stand around looking at their phones or doing less.

You can't really discuss this without getting into politics because it's been a non-stop game of football for decades. One side wanted to build it, the other side wanted to cancel it or make changes, etc.

What I don't get is why they didn't build the above ground sections and get them running first? Obviously, the line would need reversing tracks before the tunneled section. On the other hand, they need reversing tracks at certain points anyway in case of collisions, road closures, etc. The vehicles are already capable of being driven from both ends.
