I would like to point out that 3rd period comeback wouldn't have been possible in the "old" NHL
Not exactly. In 2002 the RedWings themselves overcame a several 2 goal deficits to beat the Canucks. In 2004 the Blues rallied back from 3 goal deficits against the Canucks in two games but ended loosing anyway.

I think it is more accurate to say that bad playoff teams tend to allow goals in bunches and there are a few bad teams in every playoffs.

What IS different in the New NHL is that teams are getting big leads very early, too early for their own good. 2 goal leads well before the halfway point mean that the trailling team can start to gamble much earlier.

So instead of a leading team having to face a desparate rally in the last 10 minutes, they now have to deal with it for 30 minutes. Game 4 of Buffallo-Philly was a great example.

Roloson did have a great game tonight, didn't he?

I really enjoyed how much confidence he showed with the puck. But, give credit to the people in front of him too... Pronger is such a force in this series, and the forwards seem to be gaining momentum with each game played...

In fact, it has been the lack of good goaltending that has been the difference later in this series... Just look at Game Four. San Jose had a 3-2 lead when Toskala decided to come out of the net and misplay the puck right to Sergei Samsonov, who tied the game 3-3. The rest is history with neither tender playing outstanding for game 5....except Rolloson played better than Toskala... for Roli, that's a great game...

Congratulations to the hardworking Oilers for a well deserved series win. Good to see Roloson and Peca the ex-Sabres reviving their career with the Oilers. It is almost time to tame the Mighty Ducks. It will be very interesting if these old Sabres will meet the new Sabres in the Stanley Cup round.

Oil Please, boffo, etc... o.k. i can now say it.

OK, I ADMIT i was Wrong about Roloson!

there... it's off my chest.

I didn't hate the guy, rather I was a somewhat of a fan of his and he let me down many times before when I followed Minnesota and even earlier with the Sabres.. Even though I knew he was fully capable of stealing a game, he has always been inconsistent in the past... he used to be horrible at playing the puck, in fact this echoed my previous sentiment...

But they'd better chain him to the goalposts so he can't go out to play the puck..
that improved... and, he used to be a non bounce back type goalie... maturity has done him good. it's almost too bad he's almost 37... or not, that can still be young for a goaltender..

Oil Please

Who ever thought he would be the talk of the Cup finals because of injury? Not I.
