But they'd better chain him to the goalposts so he can't go out to play the puck. Just from watching the highlights, I'd say he's got assists on at least 6 of the goals scored on him this year.

It's a good itnerim move. I think Markkanen & Conkilin have much more upside than Rolie, but they're clearly not ready to play regularly.

I don't think Roloson is worth a 1st rounder and the conditional pick. I still believe he is the product of a strong defensive team. Cujo for a 2nd and mid-rounder would have been nicer.

I would have also dumped Schrempf for one of the younger guys on the block like Theodore or Raycroft. I think Schrempf is overrated and at his maximum value.

Oh well ... Go Oilers Go.

It will be a late 1st round pick and the Oiler have a good minor system. Rollie is alot better than people here are giving him credit for.
His stellar 6-17 record this year??? ,and being beat out of the starting job by Manny Fernandez ???...and don't talk to me about his past seasons...If that was worth anything, Belfour would have been the hottest goalie commodity hands down...This move might be lucky enough to buy the Oilers one round...but with a really hot goalie I think the Oilers could go further..don't think Roloson is the guy to do that ...

is he though? he plays for the most trap minded team in the nhl... alot of his saves are dump ins and shots from outside of scoring areas. i watch the west more than the east and i've watched him play alot over the years...

don't get me wrong, i believe he'll help the Oilers, but with Joseph, Luongo, one of the Sabres tenders and possibly Belfour available for possible 1st rounders... don't you think the price was quite high?

where would you rate him?

I haven't seen Minnesota much since the lockout, they used to go with a 2-goalie system but I'm not surprised Fernandez surged ahead of Roloson this season. Fernandez is more of a reflex goalie who is also better at scrambling and 1-on-1, and that's more valuable in the new syle NHL game than Roloson's superior play-reading and positioning.

It's a pretty good deal for both clubs but I think Minnesota is the winner.

Overrated? LMAO you have never seen him play then.
I have seen Schrempf play and that's why I say he's overrated. He's in the same league as Corey Locke. Great CHLer, hold your breath in the pros. Of course as an Oilers fan, I hope I'm wrong.

Considering Noronen was had for only a 2nd rounder, I again state that K-Lo overpaid for Roloson.

I wasn't too excited about Samsanov either although the price was right. Hopefully that fast home ice will have Sergei live up to his hype.

Luongo is the class of this group but I think he will go to the Kings today.
it seems you're right in part... though the deal didn't go through, the Kings were apparently really yanking to get Keenan to release him. I think Keenan might have walked away the winner out of all 30 teams after today...

$12million under the salary cap still
a top 5 goalie to be resigned in the summer
a resigned Jokinen...one of the league's best 2-way centremen.
soon to be one of the league's top 10 scoring defencemen Ric Jackman
still alot of early draft picks for 2006, 2007.
a good group of prospects in the farm system
perhaps the best 5 year plan in the NHL, given the very tough, very small market Keenan is in and trying to sell the game to south Florida.

watch the highlight reals (replays) from Saturday nights game against one of the league's worst teams in the Bluejackets...

Saturday nights game exposed Roli for who he really is. Roli played like how i remember him playing in the minors.

Wow, I knew he had the problem but I figured he'd be extra careful not get burned in his very first game!

To be fair, it's not just Roloson. So many goalies just can't control themselves when it comes to wandering out of the net. They're like some compulsive office groper who can't keep his hands to himself even though it's gotten him fired from a couple of jobs.

i'm telling you Oil, Roloson is extremely overrated... just wait and see how he does with Edmonton... they play a loose defensive game which will definitely test him and his abilities unlike Minnesota who doesn't need a first rate goalie because of their tight defensive play.

he's not that good.

K-Lo made a mistake on this one... but, atleast he's somewhat cheap.

in fact, the Oilers who for 1 week earlier this season was #1 in the west, might have put their hopes for post season play into jeopardy on this one.

Oil Please...

the way the Oilers are playing, they should have no problem blazing their way to the finals... 1 series is hardly enough for me to admit being wrong... thought it is starting to look that way... i give Roli much credit, though his team is blocking a helluva lot more shots then they did when they first got him... actually, the Oilers are playing the Minnesota defensive zone coverage... so maybe Mactavvy decided to alter the teams play in front of Roli to make up for his weaknesses... this doesn't take anything away from him... he's played outstanding nonetheless....

Personally, I'm also very impressed with the play of Pronger, Samsonov and Pisani...

Oilers should now, make it to the cup finals... we'll see how the next few weeks play out and how consistent they play till then...

and if so, I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong about Roli... but, i still think it is too early to say i was wrong about him... remember... those games he blew before playoffs is what led the oilers to drop to 8th spot so in my mind he's gotta do more than a 1st round series upset... even if it is against the presidents trophy winning team... like many will say, that means nothing come playoffs.

Rolli? Mactavvy? Hey buddy, you're not on the Oilers so fuck off with the moronic nicknames.

He just led his team to an upset victory of the President's Trophy victory, yet you still refuse to give him the credit he deserves. You're an asshole for using those stupid nicknames, but you're a bigger asshole for not admitting you were completely wrong when it came to Roloson.
