Canadian Tire is advertising a sale on eBikes. Any one here have experience with them?

A friend bought one several years and the battery died after 2 years. Now he can't get a replacement battery because his bike only takes a 24 and they don't make 24's anymore.

I bought a pedal assist road bike. Really fast! Totally flattens the hills! I can go much farther and ride much longer.

What do they say about the life of the battery? last time I checked, it was not good at all

The old battery might be Nickel Cadmium or one of the other previously popular type battery. The ones used now a days are Lithium. I use to rebuild my power drill batteries. Most of the time I would buy new batteries on sale at the big box hardware stores for $10, these were discontinued power drill batteries that had the same batteries inside that I needed for really old power drill pack. I just swapped out the insides and the drill was good for another 5 to 7 years. The e-bike batteries can be rebuilt the same way. You can get lithium batteries from electronics store.

I’ve had mine for 3 years now , no perceived drop in battery function yet

thx for youtube link . Spot welding a battery pack looks doable . Stevenc22 is using one from alibaba. I have an electric outboard motor with a dead pack .... Shoulda been charged occasionally over the winter .

Dropped by Canadian Tire and saw their e-bikes. They look nothing like the ones in the OP's post. Prices range from $2,000 to $3,000.

About $2500 is what you would expect to pay for a electric bike at the low end. Get something with a well known name or proven track record. The one in the video is a good choice.

You want to buy one from a manufacturer that will still be supplying replacement batteries 3-5 years from now. Otherwise you're wasting your money. Without a battery, the bike is useless.

Also inquire as to how much replacement batteries cost right now.
