It was fucking huge in Ottawa. Everything was shaking big time. Things falling off shelves etc. One of the bigger ones we have had here.

My house did shake a bit in Thornhill. I put on the news as I thought maybe it was the HUGE one predicted to occurr out of California! I guess Claifornia/ Vancouver is still on the map.

Trust TERB for getting the news up first! I was wondering what the hell was happening (here in Ottawa we were shaking for something like 20 seconds - sounded like the building was coming down). Checked the newspaper website - nothing. Turned on the radio - nothing. Checked TERB - everybody's talking about it!

I got scared. The foundation of the building I'm in was shaking. Thought it was all going to come down.
The earthquake stretched from Montreal to Windsor in Canada according to 680News and lasted from 20 to 30 seconds. It could also be felt from New York City to Ohio in the States according to 680News.

Probably be an afterquake or two in the next week or so.

Was heading out to the airport from here in Ajax to fly back to Arizona...the whole house shook for about 40 secs....thought something serious had blown up in the downtown core. Not going to head towards the airport now for damn sure - it'll be complete chaos for hours now!

good thing it was only a short one , not one of those 6'4" tall ones.
studies have shown that shorter earthquakes have low self esteem.

Richter was going to selectively weed out the short ones , and only register the tall ones but he got sued for discrimination.

just thought I'd do a pre emptive post, since C-B will probably turn this into a short thread anyways.

I just heard it was a 5.7 in Ottawa, and centred in Buckingham, Quebec (which is across the river from here)

that was fun for a whole 30 seconds or so....tremor got stronger to a point where I thought my office was going to cave in. I wonder if there's going to be an after shock.
