Earth has lost half of its wildlife.

Do you actually find this surprising. I just assumed that was the case without ever reading an article on it. I think in another 100-200 years this planet is in big trouble.

I have it beginning around 50 years from now. Humans are far too stupid(in general) to realize what the loss, due to humans, of several species will do to the natural system.

Not even REMOTELY surprised. Actually, all you have to do is look at every other corner you drive by and they're managing somehow to build town homes, condos, wherever they can.
Human expansion happening everywhere.

What's the little factoid about human population, it doubles every 20 years?
That is seriously fucked up shit.

What's sad is the unnecessary killing of elephants for their ivory tusks. For Asian medicine and statues or other people's idea of having something "cool" in their home.
You'd think that an iPad or something technological would be cool enough.

Who cares about life, other living creatures these days?

Money is all that matters.

Not myself per se. But that's what society in general reflects today.

Last year was by far the worst year for animal calls on the highway...and not just the normal..skunks..racoon but coyotes..wolves..foxes..possums ..deer...
we're ruining their habitat and pushing them into urban areas..so to speak
soon the only place to see certain types of wildlife will be in a zoo..
I weep for future generations....who will miss seeing animals in their natural habitats....:(

It's nature taking its course. A parasite feasts on its host until they both die. We are the parasite and our days are numbered.

See I think it's just the opposite. I think humans are too smart for their own good. We are so advanced we've developed too many things that interfere with nature. Every human causes sooo much waste it's un-sustainable. We also have become so paranoid and over taught. We wash our hands way more than generations before, because we've been taught about the risk of bacteria. We then also use hand sanitizer, again because we've become over educated on germs. We now only drink water from bottles. Non of these things were done to the extreme we've taken it to in generations before us. It never stops, and our population continues to grow. Soon humans will be the ones extinct, and it will be other forms of life that live on this planet.

So wouldn't the intelligent thing to do be to monetarily incentivize wildlife survival?

Except some find that process icky, and protest the few successful ways to do so.

What will happen when humans disappear from the face of the Earth? This movie will certainly make you think about the impact we have made on this beautiful planet. But when humans are gone... Earth does continue.

Again Tes, Thank you for posting this, being the care keeper of seven animals that have been saved by my daughter and I, even though they drive me nuts, I luv them.
I suggest you watch this link which was given to me by my Daughter.

There is nothing stronger than care and love even for these beasts.

To me the big problem is that eating meat is cheaper than eating vegetables, once we see animals as nothing more than food we do not value them. I would love it if the government started to mandate that large supermarkets and restaurant chains carry a full menu of vegetarian food, heck take some tax money and subsidize the price of vegetables (not wheat or corn though) and fruit, it will have a bigger positive impact on society than most of the other government expenditures.
