Reading the article, it never ceases to amaze me how the police tolerate such idiots. Is it a "union protection" thing and the government rarely has the power to fully fire a cop or something?

All I know is that in every office I've worked in and every industrial place I worked in (when I was young), anyone who acts like such as ass by lying, accusing, and threatening a coworker or customer would be fired.

I don't understand how some cops act like such asses, but it some reason takes 10x more effort to fully get rid of him. It's amazing that fellow cops put up with this stuff.

Exactly, any fellow cop that is put on a case with this clown would be exposed to police act charges, and also would have his cases fail due to this guys lack of professionalism and lack of credibility on the witness stand. The career of a cop depends to a degree on his ability to successfully investigate, solve and clear cases. With this clown as a partner, what are your chances? I would imagine a large percentage of cops want to progress and get promoted, no?

So that's all he gets, no charges himself? Police get to commit criminal acts without consequence?
