I think the friend is a liar. He was most likely drunk when he picked up his kid. The whole "I have to drink in my car before I see my dad because I can't handle his medical condition" is a bullshit story if I've ever heard one. Do any of you REALLY believe that that is not a line he fed to the cop to try and weasel his way out of trouble? Think it through - what possible motivation could someone at the school have to report to the police that this random guy picking up his kid was drunk? And what an amazing coincidence that when the police caught up to him the guy in fact WAS DRINKING IN HIS CAR. It's a load of crap from an idiot who drove his child around while drunk.

someone could have a blood alcohol level of .01 and be impaired even though the legal guideline is .o8.

Blood alcohol levels can effect some people differently and it is possible for you to be charge with impaired driving at levels less than .08

A person may have a drink after a couple of Tylenols or other medication, or maybe a couple beers and no sleep for a couple days... or maybe just no sleep for a couple days... all of these would have blood alcohol levels well under the legal limit, which could result in an impaired charge.
That's nice and all but it really has nothing at all to do with my post.

Police are entitled to suspend your license for 12/24 hours even if you are deemed NOT IMPAIRED, but have been drinking. As I said its not a crime, but a hassle.

I'm surprised more people are not aware of this. It has been around for at least 7 or 8 years.

Tip I got years ago from a friend going to be a cop. If you have a standard, put the keys under the tire and roll the car onto the keys, if you want to pass out and not drive
The would cost me 260 dollars. This is how much it costs to get a new plastic key with programming.

Why don't you ask your friend how much he blew on the breathalyzer? I doubt 2 shots of brandy will get you over the limit of .08

If you put a chipped-up key under your tire....you have been drinking.....obviously the tip only works for a normal old-stlye key. But I get your point.

My friend did not blow, he became the person asking people to blow. Plus, you can blow over .08 on 2, if you just slugged both of them....don't know about now, but normally if they are going to charge you they also take a blood sample for proof. Blowing .08 does not mean you BAL is .08, only a blood sample proves that.
