downtown gym recommendations?

I've been a member of lifesport @ young & st clair for quite a while but I've moved far enough away (to high park) that I've fallen out of the habit of going.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a place that is attitude free, not too crowded, with a good selection of both machines and free weights. Of course lots of beautiful women to look at would be great too.

I usually work downtown. I'd prefer west side to east.

I'm not willing to pay any money down and my budget is for < $60 a month.

Any suggestions?

JCC @ Bloor & Spadina

Try the Jewish Community Centre at Bloor & Spadina.

Although I am not sure if the health club section is open yet. (They are just finishing up some renovations and I was told The Health Club would not be open till late summer or early fall) Still it might be a good idea to look into it. Membership I believe is around $1200. per year. But you can apply for pay what you can afford option. They will not ask for proof of income. Say all you can afford is $50. per month. Only thing is you have to make an appointment to go see the membership director. This is the only way you can pay by the month there. If you choose to pay the regular price they will ask for the whole year to paid in advance.

Curzons/Premier

Nice place... but way to pricy. They have some 'bargin' memberships but you can only go early in the morning. I saw an ad and called them. When they told me that the special price I saw in the ad is only good from 5am till 8:30am... I just hung up the phone. A**hats.

Goodlife just west of Union Station - fairly new, and good equipment.

Yonge Street Fitness at Yonge and Isabella Streets. Not a chain but all kinds of equipment in toney surroundings. It's a bodybuilders' gym favoured by some of the girls from the Brass Rail.

Bally's at Bay and Bloor. Lots of machines (2 floors), hot women, reasonable fees (50/month). There is also a special rate if you only plan to go twice a week.
