Its been a couple weeks now since Ozzy and the Hulkster kicked it back to back.

It seems the response has been vastly different. Ozzy seems like an objectively terrible human being....yet it seems like he has been held up as a great loss.
Hogan was also far from perfect...but it seems on social media we have built a cottage industry of calling out every past indiscretion.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember any large scale redemption from Osbourne. Is it recency bias? Hogans inappropriate comments were not that long ago.
Is it over the top wokeism........ wherein racism is the greatest of all evils, therefore comments about your daughter's black boyfriend are somehow worse than beating your wife nearly to death or torturing a dove for the theatrics of it.

I am in no way defending Hulk Hogan here.....I just find the imbalance in the response odd.

Also for the record... Crazy Train IS an all time banger.

Wow I did not know Ozzy bit the head off a dove. I had to look that one up.
He is objectively a worse POS than Hogan.
Saying something racist is definitely less offensive than a psychopath that tortures or is cruel to animals in my opinion.
I think as you said, it may be that people have forgotten what Ozzy did 40+ years ago.

Mate - will agree with you on

as for double standard - the only standard is whatever the flavour of the month is.

However. This song hit harder than anything Black Sabbath ever did. Followed by a bucket list of great hits. After getting kicked out, over the hill, with arguably limited talent and prospects he came back like a phoenix rising from the ashes. And killed it for the next 45 years.

It's because wrestling fans are vegan nerds who never leave the house.

That's not a good comparison because they teach you about WW2 in history class, I don't remember Ozzy being mentioned in my gr 8 history class

But yes Ozzy sounds like a lot worse than Hogan... Cause if that's the thing we know about what are the things we don't know?

Ozzy made bad ass music for 50 years, thats the redemption, google tells me this Hulk guy ripped his shirt off in the 80s and disliked black people in the 2000's why even try to compare their legacy when its so unequivocally one sided on who has work people still enjoy

There are other sources of information, thanks to the internet and tv.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug!!
Ozzy did every drug imaginable, created great music and built an iconic persona in rock and roll history.
HH did every PE drug available (at the encouragement of Vince McMahon)… helped build the WWF/WWE into a household name, “misled”/encouraged all the WWF/E fans with “train hard, say your prayers, take your vitamins”… but then lost everything after his wrestling career.
(Fun fact… a company that created a countertop clamshell grill approached HH to be their spokesperson/namesake to their product… He turned them down… then they asked George Foreman…)

Both did great things, both did not so great things… but all in all… they are both legends.

La la land
Would one say... One was a 70's trend setter and the other a 80's trend setter?

Wait lemme hum a Hulk Hogan song… lemme think about when I saw him with Randy Rhoads… lemme think about his prescient lyrics… also all of the talented colleagues he found… fucking Zack Wyldd let alone Dio…

Oh yeah. Hulk Hogan didn’t do anything memorable.

Young Taylor Swift wannabes will be covering Ozzy songs decades after we’re dead. Decades after everyone forgets about the WWE.

Ozzy was as close to a music deity as Satan would let him get. RIFP.

I should mention that I did think about the whole ethics and perception of Ozzy. Never really followed Hogan though.
Loved listening to the paranoid album at my best friend's(now deceased) house as a kid. It was one of the 3 we often had on. Zep 2 and DP Made in Japan the other ones.
A women wrote into the Globe and Mail saying she and her female friend would dance to the Paranoid album in the basement in Deep River, Ont. in the 70s as teenagers.

Ozzy Osbourne's cause of death aged 76 revealed
