Maybe he's just a nut.
Toronto police are investigating whether a double stabbing at a military recruitment centre on Monday could be linked to terrorist activity.
Police Chief Mark Saunders said a man walked into the uptown centre (near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue) around 3:30 p.m. Monday, pulled out a knife and attacked a uniformed Canadian Forces member behind the counter.
According to the CBC, the attacker then attempted to move farther into the building, but was taken down by a group of between six and eight soldiers.
Saunders said a second Canadian Forces member was stabbed in the process. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
“We’re fortunate that the Canadian Forces, through their training, reacted,” the chief told reporters. He said the injuries could have been “much more severe” had they not stopped the attack.
Saunders said the 27-year-old suspect made unspecified comments that led police to look into a possible terror connection. The RCMP and CSIS have both been contacted. Saunders said charges are pending.
