Just reading Secret Touch's thread.

I am ever glad help was called.

A lesson for everyone - never hesitate calling an ambulance.

My friend who is 40, was having a lot of pain a month ago. He just wanted to go to bed and sleep. Luckily an ambulance was called.

Good thing. He had internal bleeding as a result of other complications. Was not
a huge deal, but surgey required.

Point is doctors say that if he went to bed that night he would have died.

Always eer on caution.

Hope this incident doesn't affect your business. Not to sound callous but clients do get leary when LE is present.

When any call is placed to paramedics, ambulance or firefighters -911, the police "always respond" as well. That is common procedure and a known fact.

Sweetheart, not going to argue about this. I'm a firefighter and know the cops always respond to EVERY CALL. Period.

Even though it is standard practice that all three services respond to a 911 call, it is also true that the first service onsite assesses the situation and advises 911 control.

I have a friend who started out as a paramedic in the Ottawa area and is now a Captain on the Fire Department.

Maybe some areas are a little different.

I've seen a couple of calls in the area that I live where you'll see the just the paramedics and a single fire engine respond to the call. Maybe the police were there and gone or informed that they weren't required. Not sure.

Miranda, there is no debate going on in this thread regarding the calling for help. It is merely a debate on whether it is common practice that all three services show up when a 911 call is initiated or whether certain services are informed that their presense is not required.

I'm not sure where you were seeing that we were debating about if and when to call.

The obvious reply is to respond to any and every call with "police in tow as always". I was merely suggesting to this woman (in the future) that hopefully her business would not be affected by this incident for her sake. NOT at the time of her so-called overdose drama. Ladies chill out! By this heightened angry reply from Cathy posting your anger makes you look ridiculous.
Enough said.

Nibb,read the thread.
I never said the debate was about that...............the debate was about whether police showed up every time or not.
My point was that that really isnt the message of this thread and we should not argue over that.
