A 24-year-old Uber driver faces forcible confinement, kidnapping and assault charges after his passenger allegedly spurned his advances during a ride.
According to Toronto Police, an 18-year-old woman ordered an Uber in the Eglinton and Dunfield Aves. area on Sunday around 4 p.m. She was picked up by a man, who allegedly engaged her in “inappropriate conversation” and “made unwanted advances.”
When she refused and asked to leave, he wouldn’t let her out, investigators said Tuesday.
The driver then purportedly attempted to forcibly take her to a private location but she escaped and called police.
Sukhbaj Singh, of Belleville, is scheduled to appear at College Park court on July 4.
A spokesman for Uber Canada was not immediately available for comment.
