You are incapable of having a productive discussion.
I just told you what catch and release is and you are talking about crime!. Unbelievable.
They are not criminals who are detained for a crime.
They are asylum seekers and only families and children are allowed from immigration detention and released into the community to attend an immigration court to hear their case.
They call that "catch and release" and it is a horrible phrase that sounds like a pejorative.
It has nothing to do with crime.
And I support open borders?
Please provide proof of this.
Anything short of deportations is support for "open borders" according to you.
Do you even understand what open borders is? SMH.
And we have this in Canada? No, we do not.
We do not even have the same issues as the US.
All we have are too many students and temporary workers.
Everything you said in there is factually incorrect and is an uninformed opinion.
This is what happens when you drink the MAGA kool aid without even thinking or bothering to look up anything.
Please dont speak about these issues in public and make yourself look crazy or foolish.
Two issues with “catch and release” at the border.

Border Control: Critics argue that this practice undermines border security by incentivizing illegal crossings, as individuals might know they will only face temporary detention.

Tracking Issues: There's concern over the ability to track released individuals, leading to potential risks if someone with criminal intent is released into the community.

This is incentivizing illigal crossing as consequences are low and allowing potential criminals into the US until their hearing dates. I’m sorry but this isn’t safe for US citizens. If even one US citizen is at risk of getting hurt, that’s one too many.

Those critics are drumming up unnecessary fear.
The only ones released are people who are determined to be low risk.
Such as children and families, or single mothers with kids etc.,
They are unlikely to commit crimes.
The other is the credible fear screening I spoke about a while ago.
Only the ones who pass credible fear screening, and who are determined to be low risk, are allowed to be released from immigration detention.
The rest are either kept in detention or they are sent back.
I bet they are not catching and releasing single men, with face tattoos and a sketchy history.
Also even if they are undocumented they are unlikely to offend. Here is a report from the NIJ (the DOJ's R&D agency)
An NIJ-funded study examining data from the Texas Department of Public Safety estimated the rate at which undocumented immigrants are arrested for committing crimes. The study found that undocumented immigrants are arrested at less than half the rate of native-born U.S. citizens for violent and drug crimes and a quarter the rate of native-born citizens for property crimes.

It’s not getting destroyed. Your views on immigration are enough to tell me you have no idea what a successful country looks like. You care more about equality and civility than winning and being successful. That’s fine but when the weak start to leach off you, you have to reset and that’s what Trump is doing with the US.
Of course, Trump is not destroying America. It will take much more to destroy a country that is number 2 in GDP and still is a technological powerhouse.

But - I almost think the great bruhaha about getting rid of illegal and/or criminal aliens is a smokescreen that obscures the real problem facing America, namely the overwhelming debt of $37 Trillion. If that is not dealt with, America will sink fast into a secondary power.
And I am not sure Trump even understands the complexity of this problem. He has claimed that USA gives Canada a subsidy of $200Billion a year, when the fact is, that Canada has a trade surplus with USA of $45 Billion a year.

correct
see, you can be rational if you try

The US debt is a real problem- a problem that will take several administrations to fix. - he wants to shrink govt which is an absolute necessary first step to solve the problem
illegal and/or criminal aliens is a real problem - open boarders is insanity on steroids , especially when you have enemies who despise your country

Canada's debt burden Federal, provincial/ consumer is an enormous problem. If that is not dealt with, Canada will sink fast into a non developed , lower standard of living country

And I am not sure Trump even understands the complexity of this problem. He has claimed that USA gives Canada a subsidy of $200Billion a year, when the fact is, that Canada has a trade surplus with USA of $45 Billion a year.
That is irrelevant to him.
He wants to bring manufacturing back from China.,
So he promotes America first and we are on the wrong side of that fence
Canada's supply management is a real irritant for the US (it is not free-trade if you look at it objectively ) and he can not stand Justin Trudeau.
He is furious with Mexico for the boarder fiasco
so Canada/ Mexico get lumped into his tariff plan.

Yes he is a bully , narcistic, can be mean spirited ,down right nasty and vindictive
But he is not going anywhere for 4 years,
And we are going to have to do a deal with him , a deal that he/ his ego can call a win

despite his rhetoric we do have lots of stuff he wants / needs
there is win /lose and there is win /win

Canada does need to get its shit together and soon

Stop drinking the koolaid.

Canada is doing great, respected, growth is good, inflation under control, unemployment fine and debt lower than most of the G7.
The 'Canada is being destroyed' line is just Russian disinformation.

Wow, you must be one of the most delusional people walking the streets of Canada. I actually read most of what you’ve posted but now I’m sorry to say you really have no clue. Do you ever get out into the real world?

That is doing something about crime.
If he convinces the media to not report on crime, people will feel like crime has gone down.
But that's the deal anyway with the rightie billionaire-owned media.

Crime and immigration are a "crisis-level issue" when a centrist-left party administers the country and are "totally solved" when a rightie government runs the country. It's part of creating the illusion of competence for their incompetent, corrupt, billionaire lick-ass favourites.

Lot of division still but there more feeling of unity in America right now than I’ve felt in 8 years. Here’s hoping Trumps plans work. He’s got some of the best tech and business minds working with him this go around. I’ve got a good feeling about these tariffs. So far so good.
Your pea brain is living in fantasy if you think Shitler the Orange Shit Stain is bringing your cuntry together. It's a shithole now, and half of your cuntry can't stand its leader at all, not one ounce. But hey, it will be fun to watch your cuntry die a slow death. I think this is what it was like watching the fall of the Roman empire. You do you. But go fuck off and drink a large vat of Jonestown kool-aid once you're done fellating the worst human on the face of the planet.
