There are real dating sites, like eHarmony, Plenty of Fish, and Match.com.

But despite all the posted crap about how everyone is "independently wealthy," "enjoys the outdoors," and "performs charity work," ... it all boils down to looks, IMHO.

If you don't have them, you're not getting someone who does. You will, essentially, get a clone of yourself: same race, class, level of attractiveness, etc.

I still say that if you are decent looking (have to agree there) and not a total geek (which I suppose could be a problem), you can clean up focusing on the 6's and 7's. I just stopped dating (well kinda) but remain friends with someone who only faults are being maybe 20 - 30 lbs over bikini model weight and 40 years old...and she has enormous tits and loves, loves, loves sex. In the two plus weeks we have been (trying to) stay(ing) platonic, she says she has been on ONE date, because no one else has asked her out. Don't believe everything that you see on CBC - the sex trade in Thailand is not mostly minors. There are periodic screens conducted by the local police to ensure the bars and clubs are in compliance.
