Does MLSE also own the Knicks?

If so, that would explain the incompetence and rewarding for failure coming from New York.

The Knicks are five games below .500 in the incredibly weak Eastern Conference despite a team payroll of over $139 million (the next highest is Dallas at $92 million). They have no pick in this year's draft because they gave it to Chicago in the Eddy Curry trade. The organization has been a disaster since Zeke took the job, yet he's been "rewarded" a contract extension by the Knicks!

As a Raptors' fan, I'm thrilled. That's one less team we have to worry about as they are clearly destined to years of misery with Thomas at the helm.

For those calculating at home, the Knicks' 29 wins have cost them $4.8 million dollars each when you divide their wins from their '06/'07 payroll, and that doesn't include the luxury taxes they're paying for blowing out the cap.

And, this year they're still on the hook for Allan Houston and Jerome Williams... yes, the Junkyard Dog's salaries. They got $16 mill tied up to Jalen Rose who's playing in Phoenix, and they still have Marbury for two more years after this at $20 mill next year and $21 the year after. Steve Francis is still under contract for the next two years as well at $16 mill and $17 after that.

Their team salaries in contract commitments over the next few years is as follows: 07/08 = $86.9 million, 08/09 = $86.2 million, 09/10 = $41.2 million and 10/11 = $28.2. And that's assuming they don't pick up Garnett or Wince Carter, both of whom Isiah wants.

No cap flexibility until 2009, and he's been rewarded for this mess?! Talk about low expectations from ownership! I somehow suspect Richard Peddie runs that team too.

I'd hate to be a Knickerbockers fan today.

lol. I agree that nyk has the weirdest roster of probably any sport teams, they mite as well tried to add Iverson to the mix. Whats another guard who need the ball in their hands ehh lol.
But hey they are much better than last year, so not exactly wrong to say they have improved, or gotten better?

Although yes, i would hate to be a knicks fan right now. Thank goodness, those days here in rapsland are over.

I'd like to hear what the New York media are saying. I'm sure there are some very interesting perspectives there.

Funny you mention that because it's actually been mostly favourable response. I read an article on cbssportsline from a columnist who admist to being a Knicks fan who is shocked at how the fans and media in New York seem to have forgotten how badly Isiah has bungled the franchise. And in fact, the columnist says he wants in on the Raptors' bandwagon.

Since signing Zeke to an extension, the Knicks have gone 3-15. I love it!

He is a great GM when it comes to the Draft .. He knows how to eveluate
draft prospect ... Remember he took T-Mac out of highshcool ... His Front
court is young and very very good .. Eddy Curry 24 years old ..Renaldo Balkman is 22 years old ..Channing Frye 23 years old ..
David Lee 10 pts 10 rebounds 23 years old and drafted 30th ...
I agree, he does have an eye for talent, but his biggest weakness is his love affair with "name players" so he trades these prospects to acquire the star attraction. He'll do the same again in no time, maybe giving up a few of those guys you mention for a Ron Artest or Keving Garnett.
