Does Bell sell their modems?

and thus lowering the price per month for internet?

instead of them charging for renting the modem, thats added to the $46.month price.

I'm just wondering cause I have to know this before I switch to another company TekkSavvy that sells their modems for 60 bucks each and charges 32 monthly, without modem renting. If you rent Tekksavvy's modems. the price becomes 46 bucks a month, same as Bell.

Bell a month is 46. Two months its 92

TekkSavvy a month is 32. Two months its 64

Big Difference. But only question remains does Bell sell their modems so that the price for Bell might be 32 bucks a month as well?

According to my bill here, it's $2 a month.

As an aside, I don't know why everyone thinks North American tech support is the bees' knees. With Bell, I have never gotten anyone from overseas and have had really good service except for an incident that happened yesterday morning.

I couldn't connect to any website and called tech support (5 am or so) and got a real grump who, in the course of our conversation, said that everyone had a homepage when their browser started up. I told him, no, not if they set their browser preferences up to not have one like I do. Sheesh.

Bell will not waive the modem rental fee even if you don't use their modem.

As for Teksavvy, the monthly price for the 5Mbps Premium profile is $29.95/mo ( $26.95/mo if you prepay for 12 months) which comes with a 100gb caps. No contracts and No throttling shaping of any kind on TS (unlike Bell Sympatico who throttles p2p/torrents and implements a 60gb cap). Modem rental from them is optional or you buy or use your own modem.
If you are buying the Speedtouch modems, get it from Infonec.ca or speedtouch.ca as TS sells them at a high markup. If you need a cheap dsl modem, Canadacomputers, Caneris, and few other places are selling the 2wire 2701 refub modem for ~$25

Teksavvy sells the modem to you. You can either pay upfront, or rent to own, which is $50 at the start of service, and $10 per month until it's paid off, something like seven months. It costs less to buy it upfront. I'm not sure if their DSL modem is compatible with other DSL ISPs. If you asked them, you'd get a straight answer on that.

Bell does not sell modems. It will only rent them at $2 month (they cost around $90). Bell's support is okay and I cannot ever recall the service being down for any period of time. I do not like the wait time on the phone, but the support has been good when I email them my questions.

If price is an issue, go with TekSavvy ... you can buy the modem and for about $30/mo you can surf with a 200GB bandwidth limit or for $40/mo you can surf without bandwidth limits. I got this service for my parents and even they think TekSavvy providea good support.

I try to avoid cable ... sigh ... too many frustrating experiences.

I am really happy with bell I though I would be dissapointed for a built in wireless router, and actually having fast speed.

I don't think I will switch back to rogers once I clear up that bill.
