I bought Royal Bank back in 2021 or thereabouts when it tanked 20% and stayed there for a while. I see now 5 years later it is up 100% but it was a slow ride. I talked to the bank about getting them to take over my portfolio and turn it into an annuity or some kind of safeguard to pay me a monthly income to equal what I am making working part time. Just enough to survive modestly. They came up with a plan which I kind of like but it is all mutual funds which for me suck big time. In spite of my instincts to stay away, I am flipping a coin on just biting the bullet and going for the safe income. I keep anxiously looking at Sprott Physical Sliver etf which is on a tear. Went up 100% last year.I trade every day. Stocks and options. Some crypto. Most banks have quite low commissions on trades if you set up a trading account with them. I believe Robinhood has zero commissions on trades.
I general, if you’re trading stocks , regardless of commissions being generally low, they should not play into your decision to trade. Focus on finding great set ups in high growth industry stocks. DO NOT take trading advice from any financial advisor working at a bank, they know shit ! Best way to start is to build your foundation’s knowledge on stocks. Open a trading account with a bank (I use TD webroker). Learn basics of technical analysis of price movement (easier than it sounds). Then you’ll have more confidence to place a trade. Or just buy and hold Tesla. LOL.
National Bank and Desjardins also have no commission trades, stay Canadian. I trade between 5-10 stocks a day. Last Monday, I bought 10 stocks and sold 9 by the end of the day. Within 48 hours i bought half back only to sell them 24-48 hours later. See the ganja thread in the Business, Finance and Investing section.MatureMaHABE NO COMMISSION TRADESost: 9222533 said:I trade every day. I believe Robinhood has zero commissions on trades.
I have 4 trading accounts I like NBDB and Questrade. Questrade is the most liberal with options policy and low fees. NBDB/Wealthsimple and Questrade all have no fees for trading which allows you to average into a position at your leisure. (for buys and sells)I am interested in a few stocks and want to start trading online.
I'm looking at E trade Canada www.etrade.ca but I'm curious about other options.
I’m not stupid but this will be my first time trading. ( I will not be that aggressive)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
PM if you like
Thanks

Wealth-simple is free, Questrade has some fees, IKBR is little expensive but provide way wider trading options which are not available in 1 or 2.I'm looking at E trade Canada www.etrade.ca but I'm curious about other options.
