Tie rods should cost (ballpark).

Skidded off road yesterday avoiding a rig on a drive west of Toronto and think that I was seriously ripped off... (you know that stranded and they got you by the short and curlies)...

2 Tie rods, tow and labour 800 but if I towed it back to Toronto, the tow itself would have cost me 300... No I don thave CAA... they are getting called this morning...

On top of that a hotel for over night.... bahhhh humbug....

Am I feeling paranoid or is this out of the ballpark?

Thank you.....

Not a cheap job to replace them. The last time I had them done the parts alone set me back about 300 bucks.

Was feeling leary... but had not choice...

You put my mind at rest maybe slightly overpriced but not taken advantage of...

Thanks Sheiky!

Caa

You could have still called them and bought a membership on the spot.

At least they used to offer that a few years ago.

I've got the premium CAA membership and it's worth the money!

Between a rock and a hard place
New rules for CAA
No more on the spot memberships. You have to wait seven days after signing up before you make your first service request. You get maximum four requests (including boosts, keys locked inside, etc...) with a premium membership. After you have exhausted your four calls you pay 75% of standard market costs for roadside assistance. This includes hoist fee but does not include standard towtruck mileage. Oh yes and you get all the free roadmaps and directions you can handle. And 20 percent off the regular retail price for map books and jumper cables. Also discounts on hotels/motels and other participating establishments.

My CAA membership more than paid for itself a couple of years back when I was once towed from Markham to Ajax and another time when I was hoisted out of a deep ditch.

Tie Rods should cost about 300.00 parts and labour is about 2 hours shop charge. The tow should havebeen another 100. so in total we are talking about 500 plus taxes for most standard domestic vehicles.

why did they say you needed 2 tie rod ends? It would be bad luck to mess up both sides at the same time. The cost would very much depend on the type of car, parts and alignment cost.
