Look at some of the small european countries, Denmark, Holland, Belgium who have achieved very high standard of living without any natural ressources to exploit.

Not so. Direct taxes are about the same as Canada, although sales taxes are a bit higher and there are some inventive(!) taxes like a wealth tax and an inheritance/gift tax etc.

But danish people get universal health and dental care, free education at any level, universal day care and care for old and sick people in their homes, etc etc. Old men in retirement homes get free visits by SP's

There's a huge range in both sex workers and clients in this kind of work, and there is a lot of real ugliness out there.

What to do about it is really tough. We're dealing with different legal systems, languages and levels of poverty. I do think though, that as a part of the same larger system, that we can educate ourselves about what is happening so that we don't support trafficking inadvertantly.

I'm trying to educate myself as much as I can about how it works. Also, don't know if you saw the mini-series "Human Cargo", but it is a very good look at all kinds of modern international slavery.

I really think you are denying reality , just go to Etobicoke general and tell me most emerg patients are not recent immigrants . Inability to speak English is one clue but if you can't recognize a recent immigrant I can't help.

The reason I said so called was, I unlike you, believe that a lot of these girls know the truth or they are all very stupid. I also believe that a lot could escape. You however keep endlessly lamenting the poor sex slaves without offering any solutions. The main problem is poverty and lack of education .
